Root ViperDHD v1.2.3 - ICS 4.0.4, Sense 4.1

Android Expert
The "latest and the greatest" Sense ROM for the DHD on XDA. This is what replaced the TrickDroid ROM.

XDA Link to ViperDHD v.1.0.0

Anyone flash this yet? Am curious about it more to write scripts for it than to actually use it), but I am not a fan of Sense 4.

I saw it yesterday and am flashing today. Will post results

Sorry I guess I won't be. Download links are down while they fix the Rosie.

I would recommend you wait. After reading the first feedbacks it was evident that despite the Beta test last week there were plenty of problems.

In case someone did flash it, I wanted to ask a few questions. Mainly to see if I could write scripts for it.

Me, I am wait for the next version of Virtuous Infinity before flashing another ROM.

I have just flashed IceSense http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1539423

I liked it quite a lot from the few minutes I was on it, but I couldnt seem to find ANY wifi networks. I'm re-flashing it now. If still no luck, then I guess I'll check out Virtuous of Sabasa. I'm in the mood for sense now :D

Edit: Still no WiFi =( I was really looking forward to this ROM.

There is a IceSense 1.1 with a WiFi fix. Post 2133 I think on XDA.

If you are in the mood for Sense, why not the new Blackout ICS 3.1.1?

I'll check out the fix thanks!

I was on Blackout a few days ago. Wanna try something new =P

Wait a bit and just try ViperDHD if you want something new. QD2DC of Team Blackout is helping fix the Rosie on ViperDHD. Should be out in a bit.

can you post on here when the links up and running please? fancy trying something new, even tho it wont be as good as ice cold :-)

The link won't be working till the new version is out. But I understand they are fixing the Rosie it right now.

Icesense had a lot of problem. Using Sabasa 8.5 now, and it is a lotbetter. Ill probably stay on this till Viper is ready before heading home to Jellytime.

Viper (4.0.4) poops on my previous ROM, (Venomous on 4.0.3), for speed & smoothness.

I have yet to flash the camera fixes & sort out the random Chinese characters in Caller display, plus waiting on fix for SMS Settings FC. Other than that, battery is my only concern. 3G, screen & GPS eat it.

Would like to get 806 up & 1200/1024 down too...

Should also mention that after first flash, I had no wifi. 2nd 'dirty' flash fixed that. Also, power+home does not take screenshot :(

That's a lot of time at the minimum speed. Any chance you can post an image of the battery History details screen? Want to take a look at the Awake and Screen on statistics.

That ROM support Init.d scripts so it should be possible to fine tune governors.

Thanks. Something seems to be wrong with the power management. It stays awake a lot even when the screen is off.

A Sense ROM should look something more like the one I attached.

Not interested in the ROM in its current state, but will probably flash it just to see if I can make zips for it.

Nothing much I can do about the excessive wake time while screen is off. Maybe it was due phone calls or playing music or something? You will need a kernel developer for that.

Found a image of battery history on Sabsa 8.5 for comparison.

The ROM might be worth a second look, last time I tried it getting the dialer to work was a big deal (version 6 I think), an issue it shared with TrickDroid.

Was reading through the last 10 pages of the XDA thread and it looks like the ROM is doing better with the Desire X base (version 8 and 8.5) as compared to the One V base (versions 1 to 7). Will loose the use of my Bluetooth headset for calls it appears..

Power management from the pictures above certainly looks better than ViperDHD right now. Though I figure it will give me about as much battery life as TrickDroid v.4.

These newer ports now should really be more challenging in this regard. They are based on RUU's which comes from phones with different chipsets from the DHD.

On the one hand it is very good. A lot of work was done to trim down the Rosie, removing effects like the flip clock animation, and the result is a fast UI. A bit of lag when launching the dialer or app drawer when it is no longer cached in the RAM.

The resize is amazing in the sense that all the Sense icons fit, and that is both for portrait and landscape mode.

On the other hand it is scaled down, and in my opinion, does not work too well overall. Will post a comparison picture tomorrow. Hard to explain.
