8682: VMFreeMsg Terms & Conditions and key service items will change in early 2013 due to a system update. This may impact your service. Info at http://msg4u.us/mpve

guyz... trouble in paradise.. this is bad for us...

We're upgrading our systems to serve you better and, as a result, some of our Important Service/Product Terms and General Terms & Conditions of Service (the Terms) are being updated. We encourage you to review the Terms before updates take effect (December 2012 through early 2013).
Not to worry, you will receive an email message once the update is complete alerting you that the new Terms are in effect. In the meantime, we wanted to highlight a few of these important updates and remind you of a few that we already had in place - since you're probably wondering what this means to you:

Virgin Mobile / payLo Customers - General Updates
- Kickback Bonus Program
* The Kickback Bonus Program is being expired in its current form and will no longer be available or offered after December 31, 2012. In order to better serve you, we are hoping to bring an updated version of the program back in the future.
- Service Preserver
* Monthly Plan Customers: Effective 12/31/12, Monthly Plan customers will no longer be eligible for the $90 Service Preserver offering.
* Pay As You Go Customers: Effective 12/31/12, Pay As You Go Plan customers who want to take advantage of the Service Preserver offering must add the $90 to their account all at one time (in one single transaction).
- Daily Top-Up Limit Rules Changing
* Currently, you are not able to add a balance if it will pass the maximum account balance threshold of $400. Once the system is updated however, you will be allowed to pass the threshold before being restricted from adding a balance.
- Top-Up Minimums & Maximums
* The Top-Up minimum for Virgin Mobile/payLo customers will remain at $10 ($5 for credit card payments), while the maximum will change to $200 once the system is updated.

Monthly Plan Customers - Updates
- Registered Payment Vehicle Options - Removing Low Balance Option
* If you are a monthly plan customer, you will no longer have the option to have your Registered Payment Vehicle automatically add money to your account if it reaches a low balance ($5 or less). The option to have your Registered Payment Vehicle automatically pay for your Monthly Plan and any other monthly charges will still be available.
- Speed Reduction for Beyond Talk Monthly Plans
* Once the system is updated, we will begin throughput speed reduction for the Beyond Talk Monthly plans on all devices.
To ensure all customers have reliable access to data services, we will begin implementation of throughput speed reduction, once the established threshold is reached.
* To help ensure you're aware of your throughput limiting status, we'll send you a message when 85% of the data threshold has been used, and again when you've reached 100% of your data threshold and speeds will be reduced.

I saw those last couple bullet points and also nearly cried.

What should we do? March on VM headquarters? ;)

I thought the speed reduction was already in effect months ago, after you hit the 2.5GB data limit.

Main point would be the second to last paragraph where it states that there will be a throughput reduction on "all" phones. Pretty sure that means us.

i guess we will just all turn our phone into 3Ds ? if it starts to suck more, i hope people will just start leaving them.

What the hell!? As if my 100kb/s wasn't slow enough on 4 bars barely using it -__- For crying out loud, metro PCS's 4G downloads at 600kb/s on 2 bars.

You grabbed the words from my mouth! :D

I'll hopefully switch to T-Mob later on in a month or three or less because Sprint's network where I live in Jacksonville isn't that great... Even without the throttle. :(

doesnt change anything for me thank goodness, I dont use data (off Wi-fi anyway) since Sprint/VM is only 2g around me.. I make calls on mine, thats it

There's a weird combination in me that's angry at you for rubbing it in, but taking pity upon you for not having 3G to begin with :P

This is outrageous! I mean, I get MAYBE 100kbps on 3g with 2 bars here in Albuquerque. But I really think with Virgin changing all of their terms and conditions, a lot of people are gonna go to other carriers like T-Mobile or whatever (which averages about 3 bars here ;) ) I would much rather have 4g at the ready and accessible

i think we should start a petition on change.org... would that work???

Highly doubt it, unfortunately :( its not like this is a contract plan. Then it would be slightly different. As of now though, its one of those things where all they're gonna say is, "Don't like it? You don't have to stay."

lol, i admit it used to suck a few years back when I was with sprint... but after I left and went to Straight Talk, I found I didnt use the 3G (or 3.5G lol) as much as I thought, usually used Wi fi more, was just nice to have the option was all
Originally only bought the Evo V for the camera..

yeah but this all means that I have to limit my ingress usage... i can't handle that... they can't do this to me... i think im addicted...

VIVA LA RESISTANCE!!!

Whats all the fuss about? Isnt this exactly what we have known? 10gb on 4g that is then throttled down to 3g when the 4gb limit is reached?

Its my understanding that they are not enforcing the throttling right now but in 2013 they will - hence the notification.

Also, they cant sell a phone as '4g' and then just take away the high-speed service. They have to supply some 4g service.

lol, I guess I just lucked out that I have wi fi in most places I go, heck even the local wal-mart has usable wi-fi now lol (was using the evo v on wi-fi alone for the first month I had it lol)

Everyone be like rage. I rarely use my 3g, I use it for facebook and a game or so while I'm at school, other than that I'm always on wifi.. lol
