Root [Virgin Mobile] Cant install MG2 based roms & lost my 4G

I think you stumbled into the Virgin Mobile section of these for instead of Verizon (maybe?)...

I don't mean SD its Sim... Is the MG2 modem in a different partition? I never had problems flashing before.. Or maybe my IMEI is borked?

If possible, can you provide us with more info on your problem?

Such as what ROM you were initially on and what ROM you attempted to flash when your started receiving the error?

Agreed more information required. Steps you took / ROM flashed / steps you took to try and recover.

What are you running now?

What are you running disQUOTE]

Latest midnight... With MG2 update from punkmaxx. with original MD7 ROM if i do ##Data# i can see LTE enabled, but as soon as i get the MG2 update its removed.

Midnight ROM what you flashed to? What Sprint ROM you try?

Correct if wrong :
You flash an unknown Sprint ROM. After that you flash the Midnight ROM as recovery?

Before you flashed the Sprint ROM you did a nandroid backup correct? Does LTE work when you restore to that?

Are you familiar with Odin? I think it would be best to return yor phone to complete MG2 stock and then attempt to install midnight rom or punkmaxx rom.. unless you wanna just stay at stock. Either way I'm sure we can get your LTE working first by returning to stock. If you're familiar with Odin and you have CWM recovery installed we can easily get you to stock if you're interested..

i get a line error message when trying to flash mg2 stock rom through odin.... i can flash MD7, but no 4G. my backup was on interal SD and was wiped out

What is the error in Odin? Did you load it as pda? What boxes were checked?

To best help you - you have to be more detailed in your steps and error messages.

My recommendation is to return to stock and start fresh:

1. Install the SECOND file in this thread through CWM. (The first file is not flashable) http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...ck-unrooted-rom-flashable-zip-cwm-backup.html This will take you to stock unrooted MD7.

2. Install this Kies stock recovery using Odin (put phone in download mode, run Odin as administrator if using Windows 7, and install through PDA slot) http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...114-mg2-kies-recovery-file-virgin-mobile.html This will upgrade you to stock unrooted MG2.

3. Re-root your device using this guide: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...9490-guide-rooting-recovery-galaxy-s3-vm.html This will give you stock rooted MG2.

4. After rooting I HIGHLY recommend using g60madmans CWM Recovery to flash anything else especially roms. You can flash this zip through the CWM recovery that step 3 left you with: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...covery-clockworkmod-v6-0-2-8-6-25-2013-a.html After this, you should be on STOCK ROOTED MG2 with CWM 6.0.2.8 and your LTE will work.

5. Good luck :D

I tried eveything with no luck... I really appreciate the help though. MG2 and modem failed to write

That unfortunate. I have personally tested the modem file and the mg2 kies file and they worked on my device. If you can get the phone back to a stock of some sort you might could get it replaced.

You might have flashed something it didn't like. I know with this device you must be very careful because it seems so many kernels will brick the phone and I've seen several people in a similar boat as you.

I'm sorry you're having this trouble. I've been there before and I feel bad when I run out of things to offer. If you get another s3, I would keep it stock, do the ota update, and then root it. Be very picky on what you flash.. even Sprint s3 rom variants can cause problems.

Mobile Odin seems to be flashing more consistently for some reason. I'll give this another shot tomorrow.

Thanks

Excellent! When you try again tomorrow, add the md7 modem file in between steps one and two. I'm 99% sure that if you can manage to successfully flash everything in that order, you should be going again :)
