Root [Virgin Mobile] Device won't wake from "sleep mode"

Noticed that if I leave the phone in locked/sleep mode for over an hour or so when not charging the device's screen won't come back on despite the notification LED still flashing occasionally without having to power down the device and turn it back on. Anyone got any ideas for a fix?

(Running Teamwin recovery, should be stock ROM)
