My phone says Sprint, but it doesn't make it any better than the Virgin Mobile Evo V.

LTE is like buying the worlds fastest car but only down to the local coffee shop on sunny weekends, never exceeding 45 mph. When LTE surpasses Wimax coverage (which stinks), THEN I will start to get excited. Until then, Sprint LTE is a joke.

Like I said, I'm not defending functionality. I'm defending the notion of prepaid carriers getting nearer to post-paid perfection with things like LTE and new, top of the line phones.
 
i would believe it, im on boost and when i call customer service, they always say something about upgrading their networks and all this stuff :smokingsomb:.

That'll be Sprints updating their network with Network Vision, while this does have to do with the LTE rollout it has absolutely nothing to do with their prepaid divisions getting it any time soon. The network upgrades also improve their 3G connectivity.

While I agree somewhat, there are some advantages. For me, I don't even use 300 minutes, and I could probably manage with 2GB.

Major advantages however

  • Larger coverage area (Verizon)
  • BYOP option for people who have a Verizon phone, or are willing to buy one outright. This would allow you to say buy a Droid DNA for ~$600 and not be limited to the carrier options... assuming your budget allowed it.

Yeah, it does cost more, but in wisconsin, the main issue is coverage. At the moment I am doing okay with virgin, but I have some dead spots. If i get frustrated, paying 20 bucks more wouldn't be the end of the world, and I would have unlimited minutes.

Actually I could find nothing regarding tethering except to say that it's expressly prohibited, however regarding their unlimited minutes policy I found this posted :
We may determine at our sole discretion that abuse is taking place if, for instance, you are placing an unusually high number of calls of unusually long duration. We reserve the right to respond to such abuse by placing you on a different class of service or, at our discretion, terminating your service.
 
Some MVNO's will boot you for even watching a Youtube video.
Others will boot you for exceeding 100 megs data in a single day, even if it is your first day of service. Some will also simply boot you, rather than warn you.

Before switching to any of these smaller carriers (MVNO's), I highly recommend you read up on them over at Howard Forums. Some of these companies have tons of little gotchas that make them pretty useless for anything except calls and messaging.

Just for watching a YouTube vid? Well other then VM what other prepaid service do you think is good?

$30 a month for 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and Unlimited data (throttled after 5GB) on T-Mobile. If you need more than 100 minutes a month the price climbs quick though. Luckily there's always wifi calling.

i already put an htc incredible on it and tried it out, works well, and tethering worked also. The coverage map said it would be roaming in some areas on the verizon network, which equals no coverage for pageplus, and it actually had coverage and worked. kind of surprising.

everything seems fine except if i want to pay 20 bucks more and also if i want to buy a droid DNA outright 8)
