Root [Virgin Mobile] Help with MG5 update

I've been holding off on the MG5 update for no reason and recently I tried to update and nothing is working out.

I tried to restore to stock using madman's backup and it didn't even seem to appear on the TWRP recovery. I tried putting it on both external and internal storage and both of them are empty when I try to restore. I tried updating using the normal updater and recovery but nothing happens when it reboots to install the update.

I'm really confused to why the stock backup isn't showing up... The backups I make sure up fine and I'm certain that they are all in the correct directory. Anyways, is there and really easy method of updating and keeping root?

Is your phone mc1? If it is you don't have to restore stock first. Jerryscript's no props zip is for updating mc1 to mg5. Just flash zip. Afterwards you just have to reinstall busybox (you can get in playstore) and superuser (also available in play store) easy peasy. and also g60s backup won't show up until you put it in the correct folder. Twrp/backups/"phone serial number"/backup name. "Phone serial number" will be your phones serial number.
