i captured the MG2 Kies Stock recovery zip and currently uploading it. it will be a link here in this thread once done. hopefully some one can use it. this file is the complete MG2 for phone csc and all.

here we go http://download.negalite.com/downloadlist/click.php?id=70
Do not flash if you have a Knox bootloader

Warning untested if they work cool let me know and ill remove as always flash at your own risk.

I used punkman stock kernel zip has a base and replaced files with what was included in the above file to make these below. Big thanks to punkman and Jupiterone for the reset instructions and files which i again used has a base.

should be MG2 Stock Kernel

to download above go to file then download. google drive issue

Stockreset zip and mg2 reset zip are pulled from servers and drive links killed due to hit and miss success with devices.

what kies does basically is reboots the phone into download mode and pushes the files so i would think odin can handle this file as well. i was having an issues with the OTA MG2 and md7 restored stock now the baseband and build match...

If you tell me the procedure as to how I would push the file through Odin I would try it. I have a spare S3 ATM so I can experiment with it. Also, is it possible to modify these files like other ROM zips? I'd like to clean out some of the useless sprint, vm, and samsung apps, stick my own boot animation and sounds, add my own apps etc. like you would do with a ROM zip in WinRAR...

Thanks for the upload. This is exactly what I was looking for. Had MD7 and troubles updating it to MG2 through OTA so I used ODIN to flash it to the phone. Works great.

BTW I'm on Boost Mobile and It seems that both BM and VM use the same rom.

Thanks again.

EDIT: I flashed it over the current MD7 and didn't loose any apps. It acted like it just did an update to the OS.

place phone into download mode and use pda slot with odin.

i was in your boat what i had to flash a odex stock rom and the counter reset zip which had me on md7 stock rom. kies downloaded the file i happened to copy it before it was deleted thats all.

Someone's gotta push this through Odin, back it up in CWM before first boot and then make a new stock ROM based on MG2 like The Britton and punkmaxx did for MD7 ASAP lol

i am sure they already included the updates in there work. if i have time ill scrtn mine and do a second back up root odex stock but i wont have time for a bit. i am sue someone who can will beat me to it.

What may be odd is the modem file (extracted) from the download is only 42.3mb large. My MG2 modem file is 60mb large.

Talking about the NON-HLOS.bin file.

this maybe a update file to update md7 to mg2 i am attempting to put together a stock reset zip with flash counter reset. in essance a flashable MG2 Stock reset using jup reset zip has a base. with the newer files coming from this file just about done. so you can use this to return to stock MG2 ROm unrooted.

added some untested files that might work with MG2 Stock resetting... Flash at own risk. if they pass please post if they fail please post and pm so i can remove the links or files to prevent further people from using them. if they work then ill ftp the to a server rather then google.

Just noticed also the kernel is half the size of the pulled kernel files from MD7 and MG2 (5mb to 10mb)

Doesnt mean it wont work - just may be a new one

BTW - check you kernel link - it goes to the zip file internals

Better yet for those who want to compare. These are the firmware files I pulled from my stock MG2 phone via dd command.

It IS NOT flashable. Its just a zip with the files to test / look at

HERE

i might be ale to fix that lol as i said a few post up i think the main file was simply an update to mg2 from md7 stock

from what i can see with my limited knowledge both NON-HLOS.bin files mine and yours are the same each has an image folder and both of those match in content and size.

your boot.img file you uploaded was a bit bigger so i have used your files to create a second wave of test but until i actually need them myself they can wait. the first wave may or may not even work like i said.

Lord,

Not sure if you have found these yet but I love them:

HASHTAB
Real cool program that adds another tab to the properties of a file. This way even if 2 files have the same size you will know they are different by the MD5 or CRC32. Install then any file in windows you right click > properties > "File Hashes" tab

Another one of m favorites:
Beyond Compare
Load up two different system directories of ROMs and see just what is different. If they are text based files you can double click those and see diffs

midnights latest has the files backed in but you could go stock then update and reroot like i did. but next time i have mobile odin so i can keep my root for the next ota.

This file over writes you back to stock unrooted with stock recovery if you use it you will have to reflash cwm recovery an reroot your phone!
If your talking about the kies file!

Can this file work with a stock deodexed rom.. such as punkmaxx?

these post might help you answer that.

Thank you everyone for your work in pulling these files. I am asking all these questions because I am looking to make a definitive "Complete Guide to Return To Stock MG2" thread sometime this week.

I restored my device to complete stock and flashed this file via Kies and it worked flawlessly. Great work!!
