Root [Virgin Mobile] [ROM][CONVERT] Beanstalk 4.4.2 (2/26/2014 Build)

unless you have windows 8.1 or don't have WinRAR it doesn't work on my laptop no matter what, ive been modifying the asserts through es file explorer and it works miracles

Windows 8.1 shouldn't matter, most likely in order to pull apart or play with Roms or apps or even themes you would need the java developer runtime and to link it into windows environment just like you'd need to do on windows 7, Linux is actually the best for playing with phone stuff as most of it accepts Linux code by default or sometimes will be written in it

As for the winrar, that's on you if you'd like to get it or not, although I'm pretty sure the free version is still no time limit just limited abilities

Also when using winrar to modify anything the key is Never let the file unzip, cause the file technically was never zipped in the first place, it was signed and the program which signs the zips or apk happens to spit out flashable zips usually so if you unzip it, rezipping it technically does nothing cause its no longer signed

Most of the work on my tutorial was done using a very old desktop computer running Windows XP, so the version of Windows has absolutely no bearing on the accuracy of the method involved. Also, 7zip works, as I have mentioned, and it is free, so again, there are software alternatives that allow this method to involve zero cost. Thanks for the informative reply @Tokens210!

NP, just things I've seen, read or learned, I never tried with xp but back in my triumph days I pulled apart a lot of theme apks to change colors, needed a video to show me how to get java properly in the windows 7 cause they removed it by default I believe to due at the time java was having serious security issues

And I totally forgot about 7zip lol

And I know of Linuxbeing best from my usual talks with the mtdev team back then, cause with linux being the default for most phone codes they could write there code in there Linux, push it to github, then another Dev with a line of code on there Linux machine could pull that github into there PC where they could add changes and throw it back up, kinda like a giant cloud network for devs lol

But anyway didn't intensionally try to side track this thread.... My bad

Carry on lol
