Root [Virgin Mobile] [ROM] Cyanogenmod 10.1

Hey guys. I have noticed lately all previous attempts to bring Cyanogenmod to this phone have been dead for roughly a year. I thought I should take it into my own hands. This build is still in alpha, and the first build may take a while to become bootable. Once school starts, the deving will become especially slow. If anyone would like to help, i will gladly accept it. I'm kinda a noob myself :P. I'm always looking for helpers and Alpha/Beta testers.

Welcome to CyanogenMod 10.1
Modded and ported by the_Victorian

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES TO YOUR PHONE. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

This is very much a work in progress. I'm working as fast as I can to make a boot-able alpha

Requirements

1. You need Root access
2. You must have TWRP installed
3. This ROM is ND4. You MUST be ND4 baseband to flash this ROM. If not, your phone may become borked!
4. A basic understanding of ROMing and flashing

Cyanogenmod 10.1 Download link: COMING SOON (-ish :p)

maybe try the cm11 . that maybe easier cause if you think cm11 aka KitKat is a smaller build now . if this build has dropped a lot of things are taken from the build so it maybe easier.

The build itself would likely be easier, building an entirely new 4.4 kernel would be nearly impossible for just one person to do (especially because i just started developing in the spring)

Also this may have been stopped due to the ending of the C.D.M.A network . so if this phone Dont support gsm VM may just discontinued the poor thing. Now any dev will no not to put his foot into a cm9 ,cm10, or cm11 cause they no VM will discount the phone for a newer one when u turn it in

Many carriers still use cdma- verizon, sprint , and of course, VM. All of their phones currently use CDMA, so it will be quite a while...

Nice to see. This phone deserves some more love. I have started using my s3 now, but my wife still has a victory. Plus I had mine so long I just can't stay away. :D

By that line of thought, 3G should already not exist anymore. People have been sounding the death knoll for CDMA for years and nothing has yet to change. Verizon and Sprint are pretty entrenched in CDMA...maybe for 5G they'll try something a little different, we'll have to wait and see, but that still leaves the fact every single non-5G phone will still be CDMA. They will still have to support it for a long time to come.

As you may have seen from late last night, I have just rooted my Victory. And was wandering what Mods people are using on these devices.
CM is very popular with many devices. However, as per their site, this is not one of them.
I very much appreciate that you are taking your time to attempt to create a useful mod for this.

Good job with rooting! Welcome to the victory root community. This project is not dead, in case anyone was wondering. I am just very busy. I will definitely have one up before 2015, hopefully much, much earlier..

Thanks! I really enjoy this phone. It is the first 4g LTE that Virgin offered. I got mine the first week of release in May 2013.

I appreciate that you are taking your time to create a good working mod.

Have you tried starting with this one
Because only one of the s3 minis has the same chip set as the victory, and I don't think there is a cm for that one. The other s3 mini has some Dev going on but it has a completely different chipset. But this cm works on the VM victory. It needs some work obviously, but its one place to start.

Thanks for the link. I downloaded this. But, it may be a few days to work up the nerve to try it.

I'm still running 4.1.2. And today used Titanium Backup to uninstall some of the bloatware. Seems faster already.

Thanks again for your help!

Just make a full backup in twrp first. If you dont like cm, just restore your backup and your right back where you were.

I was not aware of that. Thanks. Is the cm you linked badbrainseddies's one? If so it is mg5 and not safe to flash.

Thanks,

I think it was badbrains'. My wife flashed it and it was OK, but come to think she was on WiFi so I'm not sure if data was working.

ok. I may be mistaken, but when i tested his ROM back when i had MG5, the camera didnt work, and that was the only major issue. The problems I had with it was it would randomly restart evry 20 mins and it became unusable because of this. I bet that is a kernel issue, which i am not very knowledgeable about. Also the camera is probably not to hard to fix, but i have to convert it to ND4

Reboots happen when WiFi signal gets weak. No one has been able to fix the camera. That's why I said it needs a little work.
