Root [Virgin Mobile] Rooting the S3

Were you able to find where the focus lock sound and focus fail sound are located? There are a few files in that folder named like they would be the correct sounds but they aren't.

I also found a thread that talks about changing a line in a feature.xml file from false to true. This is supposed to enable the shutter sound option in the camera settings but it doesn't work. I even noticed that we have Sprint, Boost, and VMU specific folders with that same file. I changed it in all locations but that didn't help either.

the csc feature.xml in system/csc/feature.xml under camera hack worked for me all i had to do was edit and set permission to rwx rwx rwx reboot and found it in the menu.

I used this guide. It worked even though it says Sprint.

Bought the phone a few hours ago. Activated it and then rooted and CWM recovery. Immediately made a backup.
Then I was just deleting a few apps and bloatware and the phone froze up. Wouldn't do anything. Including turn off. Pulled the battery and it would boot up to the lock screen but slide to unlock wouldn't work. Just nothing.
Booted into recovery and tried to restore my backup I just made. Got this message:

Checking MD5 sums....
MD5 mismatch???

So I did a full data wipe and factory reset and it's working now.
So what happened to my backup? What is the error message?

Update. Now it won't backup at all in CWM recovery. Says error while making backup image???

I'm a definitely a noob coming from a rooted Triumph and I never had a problem with my backups and restores when I would mess up my Triumph.

Try this

Getting recovery:
-Download the MidnightRomGS3 all-in-one package onto your computer
-Unzip and install the included drivers
-Turn off your phone
-Hold home+volume down+power until your phone says booting into download mode (top left)
-Plug in your phone to your computer and wait for it to be installed
-Open the included "Odin3-v3.04" folder, and run "Odin3 v3.0.4"
-You should now see that your phone is connected to a com port (A box will be green)
-Click PDA, and choose the recovery file included in the package
-Hit Start, and Odin3 will then push the recovery onto your phone!

But it froze up again. No actions will move it from the screen it freezes on. Will not even power down. I have to remove the battery to get it to turn off.
It will then boot up and freeze to the unlock screen??

It's less than 24 hours old.
I'm going to take it back and start again.
