Root [Virgin Mobile] [SPH-L710] CF-Auto-Root

I just bought the phone last night(from the VM website not physically in my hands yet) and wondering if this would work with the current build of the phone.

I would strongly recommend against it, use what is posted in the stickies by Britton and myself. Easy as pie, only need two files once you have Samsung drivers and Odin installed on your computer (three files if you want a custom ROM right away instead of stock). Plus, any rooted user should have some idea of what they have just done to their phone beyond "I just pushed a button and now I don't know what's wrong or how I got here." Britton and I have laid out the steps in very straightforward fashion, if you need clarification, don't hesitate to ask!

I read it about 7 different times, and I don't know what updates on your thread do I need to do.
first things first, who's root method do i use yours or britton?

It is the same method, his thread is just titled to attract the attention of new users. I repeated it in mine because it is important info to have. All rooting entails on this phone is:
1. Installing custom recovery via Odin
2. Flashing SuperSU from that recovery
If you do the steps from start to finish, it should be a piece of cake. Britton or myself can certainly give more help once your phone arrives as well, but I definitely appreciate you wanting to be armed with knowledge in advance!

It literally took me 10 mins to root with custom recovery (philz) using his method. Very easy.

Hi,
My first mistake was allowing that update to latest is when
I first opened the box.
I have installed Odin, super su download from philz , tried a rooted
Version of the stock ROM.. But when open Su no rooted phone,
Tried a supesu pro from Google . no root.
Noticed a couple red errors message when in install from philz
About incomplete or app error.
I believe I have the latest ROM 4.4 for Virgin mobile it auto loaded
After downloading from Samsung web page. My phone says
4.4.2 on the about device stock ROM.
My phone seems to reject the complete install from SuperSU
I downloaded . while using phone philz cwm.
I did read I should use Odin to install the SuperSU is this my problem.
I did install from ext SD using philz, maybe Odin is the answer?

And recovery. This phone is sweet compared to my older phone
Lg optimus elite (I rooted that phone ) but it was a slug booting
Tiny screen and a bit poopy on calls ..he he

Is your phone working correctly (i.e. sms and mms ok) except it's not rooted?

What ROM are you on? i.e. In About Device what are your... Software, Android and Baseband Versions?

You shouldn't be getting any errors when flashing the supersu in recovery. I'd try re-downloading that file. Many you got a bad download.

Had some help they gamma root mod
It fixed the root. Then they pushed supersu
And it worked. Now have Astor working
Had 16 resets on the root used triangle
Away paid version from Google. Visited
Samsung all is good with them they
Didn't detect my phone was rooted I hear
On more than one forum 4.4.2 is the last mod for sam3 they have moved on..
S4 & S5 so dont sweat the root count The only mods we will get is thru root .
Just dont down grade your distro it will
Break the phone its a hard wear issue.
Its tricky when you new it looks
harmless and trips the root trap.
And your stuck with a yellow triangle
And a expensive paper weight.
