Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] [Dev] Porting Stuff.

Just replaced my half of a F3 with a brand new one for 40$ at best buy. If i so happen to get down there tomorrow (and get another $3 tax), I'll go down and pick one up. But a tuff deciision to choose where it needs to go. Im willing to donate it [which dev??] towards the community of this phone. I'd love to see some more great stuff from this phone..

I'll be back tomorrow to let you fellas know.

That would be amazingly nice, of anyone of the developers, including myself, I would honestly give it to xclusive36 if possible since he has gotten the farthest with cyanogenmod, and once cyanogenmod is ported then other ROMs will soon come. E.g. paranoiddroid, aosp, aokp, slimrom, etc.

I will also go and get another one if they are only $40 now.

If it is only $40, let me know where you got it because I also want a spare phone anyway.

Second the suggestion for xclusive36. There are others doing what they can to but at this time I think xclusive36 is the most active in trying to provide alternative Roms for the community.

My usb port is becoming worn out. The cable falls out when i have it plugged in and i bump the cord or phone from all of the flash tests i've been doing. I would love to get my hands on another for testing. :)

From Best Buy in Riverside, CA. They are on sale from $80-90 or something like that. I checking if there are more in stock then I am heading down there.

What's the good word?

I'm taking a little respite. I'm currently working on trying to port twrp to our phone wile waiting for baconsauce's phone to arrive. I have gotten it to display the TeamWin splash screen but that's as far as I've gotten so far. Unfortunately afterwards I need to run the unbrick guide to reset my phone.

I got twrp to boot. :D From what I see so far it works fully. It looks like I need to make one small modification to rename the storage folder. I'll upload it and post it later today. It's touch enabled and has a built in screen saver with slide lock. So you can boot it into twrp and leave it without issues.

It also has an option to format the internal sd card to ext3 or ext4. Which would be bad if you don't know what you are doing. Should I disable this option?

"Should I disable this option"; I'm thinking disable. Since the data partition is ext4 on our device, ext3 would probably cause a soft brick or some other nasty errors. Just my two cents though, ultimately the choice is yours of course. Looking forward to trying it. Once again...you da man, X. :D

I'm thinking the same thing. Its better to be safe then sorry. Its a real powerful option to have and may be needed in the future with custom roms but until then it can be a huge headache with soft brick issues. The other thought I had on it would be to leave it intact as a complete product. But post a strong disclaimer with it warning against using it without knowledge on what it does and what the outcome would be.

With that said, I remember asking you include this very option inside of your cwmt in the past. I'm thinking it would be best to disable it and then post the source with directions on how to enable it pre-compilation. That way it will be safe and the option is there for anyone who needs it.

I tend to keep the non-tech savvy members in mind when developing and what might happen if they make the wrong choice...even if warned in the OP. :motz:

...;)

What would be the difference between the TWRP Recovery you are working on and the working TWRP Recovery I already have on my F3 (which includes touch screen)?

------------
HUH? I've seen no post of anyone else releasing or even having a functional TWRP for the F3

I'm having issues with it. I made a few changes and it's not pulling the storage right. I'm trying to get it back to the way it was. Once I do, i'll put it together and post it.
