Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Finally Rooted... Now How do i downgrade or what roms can i use if any?

Mortland

Lurker
I have a lg-ls720 version 4.1.2 baseband m8903B-AAAATAZM-3.2.2471 Kernel 3.4.0 Build Jz054K software version LS720zv7

I brefily recall reading that i need some special program to unlock the bootloader? I may be wrong ive been trying to root 3 phones, but i was able to root this FINALLY with towel root, installed superuser and busybox from play store and confrimed root with root checker.

I really would like to install a recovery and get a half decent rom on here, but i think i read that i cannot because this is Version 7 as indicated by the software version number, (but i could be wrong).

Can any one point me in the right direction, can i downgrade, or are there roms that i can install that are bloat free or Cyanogen mod based or any? And how do i go about installing a recovery? I looked thru the forums, i think this is the best place for my posting, but if i messed that up please exuse me, and point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance everyone, i apreciate it!

Go here and follow bkttk2's guide at post #6.

Im rooted on version 7 and have done all three methods... Windows installer. Manual Install of the aboot and recovery, (I had to mount as r/w in root explorer) and also with the 2ndinit lte2... Nothing, when i use the 2ndinit i get installation aboredted.. Am i clear that your supposed to be attempint to flash the CWM 6.0.4.8 Touch zip file?? Why would you try to flash this isnt it meant for windows? And upon opening it i did not find any recovery.img or anything.. Granted i still tried to flash that excat zip that is provided here. And i still whenever i attepmt to access recovery by shutting the phone off and then Vol Down and Power i get the standard recovery menu, with no option to backup. No Clockwork mod. So frustrating! Lol..

Any Suggestions?

Don't use the 2nd-init reccovery at all. Stay away from it. Just download the 6.0.4.8 windows installer, run the bat file with the phone connected while it's on and your done.

The only requirements is that your rooted, and you have usb debugging turned on.

Once you flash cwm onto your phone, to get to cwm, turn your phone off. Then hold 'Volume Down & Power' untill you see the screen that tells you to release the keys.

To flash a rom, follow the directions given by the rom creator. Don't deviate from the directions unless told so.

Yea ive used all three methods to install a recovry and every time I attempt to boot in recovry it just loads to the fsctory recovery, I cant find a way to fix this. I manually installed with a file browser ive used the windows bat file and 2ndit nothing will get clockwork to come up even battery pulled and then vol down andnpower always comes to android recovery not cwm

Just to confirm. There should be no manual install for Windows file.

Download cwm zip file to Windows folder then extract zip file to folder of your choice.

Open folder with extracted files.

For phone, make sure security settings allow third party install and make sure usb debugging is enabled.

Connect phone wait for successful connection.

Once connected run bat file.

Post any errors from batch file window.

I can't think of anything else that you can try. If you've done everything right, it's still doesn't mean it works for every device. Not all androids are created equal, even when it's the same model. Sorry we couldn't help you on this issue. :(

If I do find an answer I will post it here or pm you.
