alrighty, having some issues here. been rooted for a while now, soon after had the update b.s. then used disable service to get rid of it. of course now its back, i just wanna say screw it and do the update. i try to do the update and it gets about halfway done and gives the little caution symbol thingy and fails, ive went to google services framework and cleared data/forc stopped and nothing is helping. an idea how to get it to do the update? i can figure out the root again afterwords. i just want the update out of the way.

I was in the same situation as you and wanted to do the same thing. I know of no way to get the update to run and have not read anywhere how to get it to work.

So I ended up reading this ENTIRE Post: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...-things-root/779320-unbrick-vm-sprint-f3.html

Then, instead of using V5 OEM file I used the V6 OEM file and the step-by-step instructions that member npolite put in that post. (I did not root this time though - still hoping they update this phone to KitKat.) Everything is fine now.

Another way to keep v5 is by installing FOTAKill.apk into /system/app. File is attached. I dont know if this been patched since my Device fell on water

Also Delete the update file (which is 132MB). It is located in /cache

All i did was run the unbrick method. then I let the phone update via the ota message and everythiong went great. Re rooted the device with saferoot. It is just like i had before only v6 software.
