Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] How I've beat Throttling...somewhat

This post is for those who are constantly throttled every month & can't stand it. Well I've figured out something that works for me & just might work for you guys. But before I go there, if you're here to judge those of us who have to depend on our data please just exit :) Okay, well I noticed something that's been working for me for almost two weeks now & with me just getting the dreaded throttle text today I tried it immediately after & got my full speed data back. In my apartment there are areas I go in that automatically switch me to 3G & I've come to learn these specific spots. Well I notice when I take my phone back into a 4G area my data is no longer slow or throttled. So when I get throttled now I take my phone into the part of my home that only gets 3G, I leave it there for about 10min or more then go back & grab it & I wait for my phone to automatically pick the 4G signal back up itself & consistently this has brought my data back to full 4G speed. Again, this is after getting the throttle text from VM. I hope this make sense. & no going into mobile networks & switching it manually myself from 4G to 3G then back to 4G works neither does updating PRL. Now this might be only specific to my phone & area but it might just work for others.

Or....connect to a wifi hotspot if possible and log yourself out of fb, skype, and any other app the receives data in background.

I posted about this months ago, and it baffled people. I'm glad i'm not the only one. I have two F3's at my house and it does the exact same thing. When the throttling kicks back on, just put your hand over the top to block 4G, then when it goes back to 3G, immediately sit it down where it would get 4G. (This is a great replacement for satellite home internet)

I've tried that method of disabling the throttle and it didn't work

I fail to see how that will "beat" throttling all it will do is keep you from going over the limit a little longer and maybe give you slightly faster speeds while being throttled.

For everyone's information this actually worked fine. Now since this has hit some forums it seems like it decided to stop working now. I know this had worked for a fact as I could download over 2.5GBs and it would still go full speed of up to 20Mbps. Basically this was a service glitch I guess you could call it and not that long after they put v7 out it just stopped working. Not sure how they could have ended up doing anything about this issue considering they would have to of upgraded the firmware and I never did so and it still ended up happening to me.

Same here, no longer works and I'm on V6. I'm running very slow on 4G and nothing is working. Probably should have not said anything. Lol. It was good while it lasted.

They fixed it at the tower. Nothing you can do about it.

How would you know if they fixed it at the tower? Do you work for sprint and seen this on the forum and decided to have the issue found and fixed or something?

I see. Well I guess I am pretty much screwed for getting any type of internet in my area then. As the only things available are dial-up, satellite, and mobile. And well I had satellite for awhile but it just isn't worth it. Once you hit your limit within a few days to a week it goes way below dial-up speed. And for mobile well you kind of know the story for that. Virgin is what I have been using and it worked great until their throttle blew up in my face and the service glitch stopped working. And since my credit rating isn't good enough for a contract phone I am unable to get a unlimited plan with sprint. And for another service it is over $100 a month to get it unlimited and most likely it will go just like all other carriers have been doing just making it throttled beyond use. I am beginning to think that none of the companies care about people who have little to no options available for where they live. Especially Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. As they are more than powerful enough to make a deal with the ISP's to get them to lay off of their throttles. Like seriously with the throttles today if you own a Playstation 3 or 4 or a Xbox 360 or one as well as they nintendo wii u you can't really get little to no games. Once you hit your cap you might as well say the heck with it. As it is basically unusable for downloading anything. And you can just barely get by with just looking at websites. Like really I think that the FCC is just not going to bother with it either. As technically the FCC should have done something about it a long time ago as really throttling and caps are something that should have never been introduced. I am just tired of it and wish there was something I could do about it but there isn't. I just wish someone would do something about it.

Yep, coincidentally enough, this glitch stopped working when it was gaining more popularity. It was working good for about five months, and I'm in Willmon's boat. Internet options are few in a rural-ish area. Bleh. Still on V6 and it suddenly stopped working...

Well I would check again for the v6 as they shoved v7 down my throat when I wasn't on the phone and it updated itself. I just wish that virgin mobile would stop being so annoying and changing everything every so often to make things worse and worse.

Same deal on the V6. I don't think what version you are on matters when It deals with throttling unfortunately.
