I rooted my phone using Kingo Android Root, partitioned my SD card using Mini Tool Partition Wizard, and I use Link2SD to link files to my SD card to free up more internal storage space. I have not removed any bloatware yet. This is my first android phone, so I apologize in advance for any noobishness. I have done tons of reading at this and other forums to get what little knowledge I have.
Before I read about the possibility of bricking my phone if I installed the update while rooted, I tried to install the update. It didn't brick my phone, it just didn't work. So, then I tried unlinking all of my linked files (and then of course, because of storage issues, I had to uninstall all my apps), and I removed root using Kingo, and tried to install the update again. Same result, still didn't work. Any thoughts as to why?
So, then I read about installing the update. I have downloaded the LS720ZV7_upgrade.zip and the CWMT_ZV7_Windows-Installer.zip. If installing the V7 update will cause me to lose root, should I unlink all my apps and uninstall them prior to installing the update? There won't be enough storage on the phone for all the apps that are on it, if I lose root. That can't be good. And I'm hoping I will still be able to use Kingo to root the phone after the update, but I have tr.apk (towelroot), just in case.
I have had these files for days now, afraid to make a move, but that pesky update reminder is driving me batsh*t. Any help (or "there-there's") would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
