So I'm guessing this is the V08 update for LG?
Once downloaded...what do we do with it?

It needs to be converted into a bin file for use with the unbrick tool. It's not much use to anyone in it's current state.![]()
Good thing there are a few pay phones where I'm at now. My CWM backups don't work either. Stopped at restoring ext4, so that partition may be corrupted... GRRR!!!!!

Can I use this file to unbrick my phone and make a fresh install? My F3 crashed and can't fully load right now... UGH!Good thing there are a few pay phones where I'm at now. My CWM backups don't work either. Stopped at restoring ext4, so that partition may be corrupted... GRRR!!!!!

I was able to wipe internal memory. It's Ext4 on the external SD that's f^&*ed. I'll probably fix that with gparted later. I do have a couple spare phones if unbrick fails.
So, this file is only for UPDATING the phone, not UNBRICKING it, right?
the eternel sd should be fat32. Just pull it and use your computer to re-format it to fat32
I know that. I'm saying that the ext4 for Link2SD is screwed up. The primary fat32 is still readable.
This file is for dev purposes. It was posted for a dev to convert into a bin file.
Once the bin file is posted to the unbrick guide, you can use it to use the lg flash tool to 'restore your phone to v8'
Ok, so if I want to restore my phone, I could, say unbrick using the V7 bin file, with the flash tool. Then, I can use the v8 one to update on top of that install?
Wouldn't I get a prompt to update to V8 OTA anyway if I unbrick with the V7 bin file? Sorry about all the q's. This is really bugging me... thanks for answering.
A bit of good news... my phone stopped boot looping. Was able to restore a backup from about two weeks ago. Can access at least the phone/messaging, memo app, and the stock browser. Also can get 3g and wifi. Definitely a sign of internal memory working to me, whew. Hopefully this holds up long enough until I can get home, swap phones for a bit, and fix my F3!

I'm too afraid to try this suggestion myself, but I thought I'd throw my idea out there in case anyone else wants to try to utilize this .CAB file. I plan to use the unbrick guide to return to stock V7, accept the OTA update, and then re-root using StumpRoot and reinstall CWM Touch.Does it really have to be a .BIN file?
Would it work to use the UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe tool from here to convert this .CAB into a .KDZ file and then flash that .KDZ file using KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (from the same post)?
Or would it work if you took it a step further and converted the .KDZ file obtained using the above method into a .TOT file using the LGExtract tool from here and then flashing the .TOT file with LGFlashTool using the .DLL for the F3 from here? I know LGFlashTool works with .TOT files because I used it to downgrade my LG Volt (LS740) so I could root after accepting an OTA update.
Was just curious because I couldn't seem to find out how to convert the .CAB file posted here into a .BIN file.I'm too afraid to try this suggestion myself, but I thought I'd throw my idea out there in case anyone else wants to try to utilize this .CAB file.
