Everything is okay now and I'm up and running![]()
Glad you figured it out and got back up an running.
Also, he hasn't even over clocked it yet. Still on all the stock settings
The ability to overclock depends on the manufacturing tolerances. Since the GPU is not baselined controlled, it is probably that the GPU is failing.
Been using this for a while now but i had to remove it, it caused major instability with my phone even with the stock speed it would cause random reboots. Temp was between 30-40c but it did get hotter during heavy use (navigation). The GPU seemed overtaxed for some reason.
I had similar issues. It works but occasionally it would seem to get 'stuck'. Would randomly drain the battery. Not sure exactly why, I reverted back to v2 for now. At least so I can determine if random battery drain is due to kernel or something unrelated.
uh, easiest way for rooted vm720 is probably:
-->install android terminal emulator (play store)
-->download/save V4 boot image to root directory of external sd
-->in android terminal emulator type:
su <hit enter to become root>
cd /storage/external_SD/
dd of=ls720.original.img if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
to save a copy of the existing boot image, and then the following to install the V4 overclocked boot image
dd if=ls720.overclockV4.lok of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/boot
---------
you can do it all on your rooted phone w/o PC....so easy! thanks, Robaho![]()
how can i use this method to revert back to the non-oc kernal?
Did you make a backup in recovery before you flash the OC? If so you can restore the original boot image only and not lose anything since the backup was made.
yes i did, is this the only way? Also, how can i tell when it is the Oc kernal or the regular one?
Taking a look at the frequencies available such as 1.836 Ghz. Use No-frills CPU Control.
if it shows 1.188ghz at the highest it is stock right?
