Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] This little phone of mine

I have been hacking phones since the days of Moto IDEN on Nextel. I have run the gambit of about a dozen android phones dating back to the G1 days of yore.
Never have I been so nervous about installing/flashing anything on a phone such as this little phone!!!!

I keep reading a whole lot of this works, yet new discoveries are made everyday about how things don't work; example: cwmt.
I know how to get this phone back to square one with the LG flash tool. I want to not have to do that. It seems it is a coin flip doing anything with this phone.

I don't blame the devs at all. I don't blame anyone but whomever decided to lock the damn bootloader needs to be flogged.

Do you guys think it's going to be this hit or miss in the ongoing future?
Just curious.

I feel that the devs working on this device are going a good job. I have a lot of confidence in Xclusive36 in getting CyanogenMod for this phone.

As for not wanting to have to do lg flash tool, well that saved my phone more times than I can count!

I think that for now, rooting and installing a recovery is about the best this phone can offer, but soon there should be more
