Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Using both cores on Android Tuner

I see that on the Android Tuner app for F3 it shows CPU 1 online and CPU 2 offline why is that? Cant we open both cores on our phone?

Ty is that the last setting at the end i think it says md or mp? Should i not mess with it? Reason im asking is someone on the Zte Awe forum has a video on You tube where he shows the overclocking of both cores on that phone and shows CPU 2 where you can tap free and it opens that core up. He may have been on Android Tuner Pro he mentions trickmodester and different CPU settings

If you rename /system/bin/mpdecision to mpdecision.bak then core 2 will always be enabled- unless you use a governor that turns it on/off.

do i do that in mp? or where do i do that? I use performance. Would that be in root browser? UPDATE ok got that what would you say is a good setting i have 364/1188 on performance? Both cores open on Quandrant 5232 and Antutu 12509

If you use performance the frequency is locked, except on core 2 if you have mpdecision running.

ok just tapped ondemand much better. I see CPU 0 it bounces off and on which govenor makes it stick?. I see what you mean i see both locked it at times at 118

You're gonna get the worst battery life ever and it will quickly ruin your processor and your battery if you use performance all the time and enable the second core all the time. Watch how hot your phone will get.

Not really true with modern processors. They have C states (idle states), so even though the frequency is locked at the max, the processor still goes to sleep when it has nothing to do.

In my testing for the new OC kernel I am about to post shows that even with the cores on all the time, with on demand, and the schedule MC scheduler, the phone uses almost no battery when idle. It is less resource intensive than turning the cores on and off.

Ty but i still get grt battery life. Its been on since 9 pm last night and its almost 6 pm here and still have 37 % heavy usage no games

Also, there is considerable evidence that running the processor as fast as possible leads to better battery life, as the work gets done sooner and the processor can move to a low power idle state sooner. Depends heavily on the work load though.

im running rom/stock/cm and im at both cores 384/1.24 perfomance. 37% still and been messing with it. Cpu doesnt go past 30% goes from low to back to 17 or so. It does idle for sure and no battery loss. Im not trying to push wide open to 1724

Here's a screen shot of battery usage on my upcoming oc kernel update. This is at 1.8 ghz and both cores always enabled using ondemand. This is in standby overnight.
