Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Vm blocked mobile tethering!!!

Robaho's hotspot app works just fine I update the prl and profile earlier today.
Only thing I could think of somehow the black listed your phone. I would call and just tell them your having trouble with your Net connection and if they see anything on their side.

OK... The purpose of this thread was not to figure out how to get tethering to work because I already knew that... The combination of portable free Wi-Fi hotspot and tethering for root users 2.07 makes it work flawlessly as well as robahos widget. I was trying to figure out why I'm suddenly being blocked from this now. I believe my phone was blacklisted because of the continuous use of tethering daily.

I'm not showing you how to do it, I'm showing you that it's not wide spread, and how to determine how they are blocking you? And that updating the PRL and Profile does NOT affect it. Until you call vm or a flood of a similar issue comes up you won't know for sure.

Oh yea I have had a bad unbrick flash before that would break the data connection i had to reflash a few times in a row to get it to work right.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be rude. I greatly appreciate everyone's input and info.I'm going to tinker around and see what's up. I still have data and still able to make calls and all that other stuff. Any suggestions as to what I should say if I call them, obviously I can't just say that they blocked my tethering.
 
WiFi tether trevemod works great. Just Google it and follow the instructions. VM will never know u use it unless they have carrier IQ on ur phone
 
What's carrier IQ? I've been using wifi tether from googlecode 3.3 beta 2 for months. I found an awesome glitch in the F3, too. If you're throttled on 4G, put your hand over the top until it switches down to 3g (or change it in mobile networks, then immediately back.) Then, let it reconnect to 4G. Throttle gone. Replaced our satellite internet, it's great. Small town though...YMMV

Get any Carrier IQ detector in the play store. Carrier IQ lets ur carrier know what u do with ur phone
 
Finally fixed my problem thank god. I still have the tethering settings. I figured I give robaho widget a go since everything else was being blocked and it worked. No error message or anything. I guess vm doesn't detect it. Thanks a million. 2.49$ is reasonable to be able to tether. Anyone having the problems I had just purchase his app and it will solve it... Thanks again!!!!!
 
Thanks but no thanks. I like to give back to our devs. Plus every other app has blocked the broadcast of the ap. I have used tethering for quite some time and it was all of a sudden blocked requiring me to purchase a mobile data hotspot plan. This is the only app that has broadcasted the ap since vm blocked it on my phone
 
saw this forum and updated my prl and user profiles in system updates and now i can't get internet.Have same message also.Was using the wifi portable hotspot and the wifi tethering combo mentioned in other threads.Just paid for Robaho wifi tethering app and it is now working again.

The error message in the OP showed up on my phone today.

I recently flashed to the "stock" V6 ROM from this thread:

and updated PRL and profile.

I hadn't used tether in a few weeks, so it's possible this problem existed before the reflash and I just hadn't noticed.

Until the reflash a few days ago I was running original as-shipped V6 ROM, rooted, using the two-step of "Portable WIFI Hotspot" + "wifi tether 2.0.7" It had been working with that method for several months.
 
I had the same problem after updating the prl and profile. In settings under more I have now a portable hotspot that won't work without payment. I hadn't a problem using the two app method but VM did throttle me last month for the first time in 5 years. Now I'm using netmgr and works great.

I have same problem. New Hotspot settings in network options after PRL update.


This would run without errors, but I could not see the hotspot in other devices
