Root [Virgin Mobile] Wifi tether Samsung galaxy victory?

I use TrevE mod as well in the Nexus S configuration, though some computers can't seem to access the web (or a browser won't, but a game will)

I use chrome browser. Dont know if that makes a difference. I tether all the time when I'm on the road and I get full web access
Also I dont use the latest version of wifi tether from market, I kept the one from victorious.

Even with all the suggested settings my phone freezes and when locked then unlocked only the the lights , on the bottom light up wtf

Might have the cpu a little too high. I get that on rare occasions. And I keep my screen on when tethering.

Anyone have any problems using encryption? When ever I turn it on none of my devices ever want to connect, I have use it with it off and using Access control instead which I hate because then others try to connect to my phone.

I have the issue.

Has anyone had trouble with tethering recently? I had it working perfectly a month ago, but now it seems to boot me off of 4g to 3g any time I try tethering. What baseband is everyone running now? I'm still on the old one, might try upgrading it

Mg5 here and keeps steady 4g.

I just recently purchased a Victory for Virgin Mobile. I believe it is updated completely so I'm wondering if tethering is still possible. The newest comment was from September 2013, it is now Jan 2014, can anyone let me know if it still works or if I have to restore my phone or anything or if it can tether with the current up-to-date firmware.

You'll need to root the phone, but yes. Tethering works great on this phone as long is you get good cell service. You may get throttled after 2.5GB in a month, but it depends on how busy the cell tower you are on is.

I ended up using EasyTether. You need a wired connection between your phone and computer, but you don't have to root.
