Help Virgin Mobiles Service?

Questions questions questions. Sorry everybody, but hopefully the things I'm asking will help other people out as well.

So, if you're already grandfathered in with one of the old VM price plans of 25, 40, or 60 dollars and want to change plans, are you automatically bumped into the new pricing plan? For example if I'm paying $25 a month and want to switch to the $40 a month plan, will I be bumped to the $45 a month when I try to change? Or will I go to the $40 a month?

Thanks again for your help!

You will most likely be put on the new 45 dollar plan if you try to switch.

Yes, if you switch plans or don't pay for service for 90 days or more you lose your current plan.

Wow! That's actually really good info! Thank you so much! Did the guy do anything "special" to figure that out or is BestBuy's system just not updated yet? - As in, do you know how he did that? Cause my brother actually works for bestbuy and I'm going to ask him if he knows anything about it...

The main Amazon merchant who is selling them just lowered the price to $120 + 5 shipping, today. Amazon.com: LG Optimus Prepaid Android Phone (Virgin Mobile): Cell Phones & Accessories

But of course like you said, if I can get grandfathered on the old plan I'd be saving way more money with BestBuy

No problem! When he came over to ask me if I needed help (I was really annoyed at first because I hate being walked up to within 3 seconds of entering the store, feeling like shark prey...but glad he did because I may not have bought it there) I explained to him that on eBay someone was offering grandfathered plans for around $23 (that's the fee to the guy just to get the plan initially, not including the $25 per month going forward) and that all I needed was the phone.

He then explained that he thinks he could grandfather me in without having to go through eBay because he'd been able to get the $25 or $40 plan for people lately, but that he hadn't done it in the past couple of days so he'd have to check the computer first. After about 5 minutes of him going through the system he said that it was still available, so I signed up right there.

So you may want to go in as soon as possible because who knows when they'll cut off that ability. There's a chance it cut off at the end of July because I did it on 7/31, but I think the plans officially changed on 7/19 so it may not cut off until 8/19 or something.

You're lucky dude! I called the local BestBuy closest to me (Idaho Falls, ID) and asked over the phone. --That might have been my mistake, cause usually things like this are better to do in person. But that's what I did. He told me that it wasn't available anymore. This was 1 days ago (after the 31st). So maybe that was the cutoff date? Would you be cool enough to tell me which store you did it at? City, State, etc.? I would just have peace of mind if I called in there and asked and they said it was gone. Otherwise I'll just be pissed at the guys at my store :).
Thanks

Yeah no problem, it was Mission Viejo, California. I think you'd have a better chance of going in since they usually try to get people off the phone as quick as possible. Unless the guy actually took the time to look in the computer. For me it took the guy about 3 to 5 minutes of computer work to check to see if it was available, so hopefully if it's still available you'd have a better chance of getting it in-store. Good luck!
