Help Virtual Keyboard not working?

So I just got my LG Optimus F3 phone about a month ago. This morning when I woke up and was texting on my phone, everything was fine. At some point during the day though, when I would try to click in the text area to open the virtual keyboard, it wouldn't work. It happens not only for text messages, but for facebook and even entering contacts as well. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. Someone help me please? Thanks!

Make sure there is a keyboard selected under settings / language and input. You can also check the settings of the keyboard(s) there.

Or, download another keyboard and try it out, like Google keyboard.

I had this happen as well, and agter i rooted and used Link2sd, it went away... I remember someone saying that you need like X amount of open internal storage for a phone to properly function. not sure if it's true or not, but it hasn't happened since

So, I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to technology, and of course I checked to make sure that the keyboard icon was checked. I even tried turning the device on and off multiple times to see if that would solve the problem. When I am in a section where the virtual keyboard should pop up, i see the keyboard icon up at the top of the screen appear; it just won't open.
It can't be the amount of internal storage on my phone, because I have at least 350 mb available for the phone to operate, and the virtual keyboard has worked on less than that in the past.

Now, on Monday my phone died, and when I turned it back on, the virtual keyboard was working again. Then yesterday it died again, and when I turned it back on, it wasn't working. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but I thought I'd bring up this point as well. I tried letting my phone die a THIRD time to see if that would cause the keyboard to work, but it didn't.

So if any of you are having this problem, if you have Swype as your default keyboard, go to system settings then apps, and then slide over to all apps, go down to Swype and force stop the program. Then restart your phone and see if it's working. If worse comes to worse, just resort to using the LG keyboard that's made for the phone.

I wish I would've thought of this solution over a month ago instead of just now, but sometimes it just takes some trial and error.

Hope this helps anyone else who has this problem!

THANKS! I thought great, my phone is broken. Your solution worked great. Wish I understood why it happens in the first place though.
