Root Virtuous 3.1 Released

am I the only one who gets boot loops with this? I have 3.0.1 running now without any problems at all but I've tried to upgrade a few times. It upgrades and loads up fine it seems but about 30 seconds into operation it goes into boot loop and I have to restore back to 3.0.1.. any ideas?

I am very happy with my current setup using the stock 2.2 updated ROM. The phone is rooted and all apps are working fine with no conflicts.

I am interested in Adrynadyne's Virtuous Rom Custom Kernel V2. So, do I have to use the Virtuous ROM 3.01 or 3.1 or can I just add the Virtuous Rom Custom Kernel V2 to my stock ROM. I am currently using the Virtuous Stock Kernel V4.

Thanks for any replies.

you can copy adrynalyne's custom kernel V2 to your sd card and install via choose a zip file. I have found it to be a great kernel.

I have virtuous installed with the custom kernel and I'm loving it!! It bumped my battery life from 4 hours awake time to 5.5 hours using the stock battery. I definitely recommend the custom kernel.

So you guys are getting better battery life with the Virtuous Custom Kernel then you are with the Virtuous Stock Kernel?

I installed Virtuous for the first time today

The location consent is different then normal.

The options are:

VZW Location Services: Use location services provided by Verizon Wireless

Standalone GPS Services: Use Location Services based on Standalone GPS

Which one did you guys choose? I'm not going to be using VZW Navigator. I'll only be using Google Navigation and Google Location for the most part.

Do I choose Standalone GPS Services? Are there benefits to either? What did you guys (and gals) do?

Thanks!!

I resopinde to you r other thread on this, but I'll repost here with some addidional detail for those that may also have the same question.

VZW Location Services gets it's location data from the Cellular Network (i.e. the cell tower your phone is communicating with) and is not as accurate as Standalone GPS, however it will get a location faster and doesn't need line of site to the sattelites to work.

I believe the VZW location services uses cell towers to pin point your location. So it won't be 100% correct. It will usually get the town your in, or next too, where ever the closest cell tower is. The standalone GPS will get your exact location, but requires the GPS to be on and will drain battery. If you aren't going to be using VZW Navigator, use the standalone GPS.

Do you know what happens if you enable both on startup? It allows you to check both boxes...

No sure, I have 3 options on the current ROM I'm using - VZW, Google, and GPS. I have all three enabled. For most location information, it appears to be derived from the VZW. When in maps, it does seem to initally use the VZW, then dial in using the GPS.

I've been using the custom kernel from the moment I installed virtuous. I'm not sure how the stock kernel is in terms of battery life.

I used the stock battery and it lasted 5.5 hours of awake time. With stock 2.2 I barely made over 4 hours. I've been trying to repeat that 5.5 hours of awake time but no luck. I just don't worry about battery life anymore because it drives me crazy.

I've been Running 3.1 since it was released with incredible revolution with no problems..

About a week ago, the market went back to green background instead of red, and i've been getting android process force closes lately..

Phone just feels laggy now..'

Anyone else have this problem?

My market place icon changed from red to green as well and I've been having trouble with sending and receiving picture messages. I'm back to stock rom.

I have been expierencing the same prob. I went and flashed a new rom and wasnt happy so i nandroided back and the force close issue went away but the market is still green.

There was an update to the android market. If you go to manage applications and market you should be able to uninstall the update. After that it will go back to red. The thing is, next time there is an update on one of your apps and you go back into the market it upates the market as well and it goes back to green.

For the people having problems with downloading pictures from text messages, are you using Handscent?

I can't seem to receive any kind of attachement when using Handscent, but when I go to the stock Messaging app I am usually able to receive the picture.

I also can't seem to receive VCard attachements with either Handscent or Stock. A force close error occurs calling out "process com.android.mms"

Also having problems downloading attachements in Gmail. Attachments seem to be "fetching" forever. Anyone else seeing this?

Otherwise a great ROM, thanks dev!

I've never had a red market. Always green. But it has force closed once in the couple weeks I've had it so far.

As for lag, I don't have any.

Took the plunge and flashed a ROM today...Virtuous 3.1.

on my old setup I had the Droid X Boot Animation which I liked. I tried moving VZW_bootanimation.zip to the /system/customize/resource folder but when I rebooted, I got the stock animation.

I guess I was wondering if I need to put the boot animation file in a different directory...or perhaps name it something else?

Thanks.

EDIT: I found the directory. In the Virtuous 3.1, the folder is /system/media. File names need to be bootanimation.zip and bootaudio.zip.
