Root virtuous 3.2?

This may be the wrong place but has anyone had trouble installing the new kernels? I specifically tried v3 (the new one) and when I rebooted it gave me an error about not finding the file, installation aborted. When I select a .zip to install I can see the "update.zip" I assume was created so I can install the new kernel.

For those of you worried about the initial boot taking very long:

This is normal with the inclusion of the new power menu. I used to install this manually prior to 3.2, and after installing it would take ~5 minute (sometimes longer) too boot the first time. All boots after that were fine. Just be patient and your phone will eventually boot completely.

When did you root? How did you upgrade to 2.2? I'm pretty sure the RUU update installed it automatically, Pretty sure that's how I got it.

I rooted right after Unrevoked fixed the reflash tool for the November update. I upgraded to 2.2 manually through phandroid.com and Nov update through Verizon OTA.

Just flashed this rom today and liking it so far. Smooth, fast, and good battery life.also my quadrant score went up about 200 points.

I'm in ROM Manager, but I don't see it. There are sections for Recovery, ROM Management, Backup and Restore, Utilities and More Recoveries but nothing on this screen (or any sub screen I have clicked into) says Extra Goodies??

Never mind, found it a few screens deep.

OK..thrillkill finally grew some balls and rooted today. It was so easy even an old man tekkie like me can do it. I downloaded ROM manager and flashed Virtuous this morning. Also downloaded CPU tuner and now my battery life is amazing.

Thanks to android forums for having all the up to date instructions on how to root, etc. I will be coming here for a long time in the future. Next project, root my galaxy tab..that is after I open it on Christmas morning. One question, is the Z4 program a good way to do it?

Merry Christmas to all droids!

What kernel are you guys running with this ROM? Currently running the stock one that comes with it, and my battery life and performance are pretty good. I'm just looking to get a boost in battery and/or total performance.

I tried the Hydra overclock kernel and battery life was no good. Currently using the Virtuous Custom kernel and battery life seems pretty good.

Need some help here. I have Redemptive rEVOlution 2.1.3 and installed the rotery lockscreen from rom manager under redemption. The phone started to boot up after the install but just loads the splash screen then reboots and loads the splash screen again. I can't get the computer to see my phone and the phone won't pass the splash screen. Can someone help me out. Thanks

got it working again. I was stuck in a boot loop and didn't realize you had to hold the down button when it was powered off then hit the power button. Fixed now just did a restore of a previous backup.

I've been using Virtuous 3.2 with Lous #9 kernel for quite some time now. Is there a newer release? I don't see much chatter for this ROM but I have to say, it's my absolute favorite ROM (I am a sucker for the stock SenseUI)

The developer hasn't ready made anything new for the rom. I have switched to skyraider 3.5 and am liking it better than anything else I have tried. Using Ziggy BFS kernel which is pretty quick.

Hmm...for some reason I thought I remember reading somewhere that the Skyraider dev stopped making Dinc ROMs, but I am probably wrong (I haven't been in the ROM forums in quite some time)

Out of curiosity, what do you like about Skyraider 3.5 over Virtuous 3.2? I found Virtuous to be extremely stable and when paired with Lous #9 Kernel my battery life is through the roof! (1800mAh battery gives me like 8-9hrs awake time using Wifi)

I am a big fan of the power controls in the notification panel. That is the main thing I like about it. I was addicted to Virtuous for a long time but the notification panel was the only thing missing. I was also using the Custom Kernel from Virtuous and that was a perfect setup for me. If I could get the notification panel from Skyraider on Virtuous, I wouldn't hesitate to switch back. Also, Ihtfp69 is working on a new ROM, or at least was, called Athena that is AOSP with some elements from sense, didn't like the white notification bar though.

When adding a custom kernel (using ROM Manager) do I need to wipe again? I have Virtuous 3.2 right now but am looking at something to fix battery life. Thanks.

Negative. I never wipe unless installing a new ROM, otherwise you have to set everything up again. I install everything, then restore from titanium and then make a backup.
