Help virus or malware?

So I am getting random app icons showing up on my 1st left home screen.. just dumb game type apps. I think it may be from a poker blind level timer I got a few days ago but I really like it and dont want to get rid of it.

and even if I do uninstall it, what if the rogue apps keep installing on my home screen? I have AVG installed.

any other tips please?

There are various applications you can download from Google Play that will scan all your apps and tell you if they use AirPush or any other type of insidious technology that usually results in this sort of activity.


Removing identified apps should mitigate the problem.

Lookout has one version, AppBrain another. A search for Ad Detector should get you somewhere helpful.

These are air push crap. Something you downloaded has this enabled and regardles if you delete them, they will keep showing back up.

go to google play and download 'Airpush Detector' - This will tell you what app or apps are doing this. Then delete the offending app.

That happened to me after I downloaded a "free" GO SMS theme. Same as everyone else, once I'd deleted the theme the Spam stopped. On the one hand, it's a neat trick and I'm kind of impressed with whoever thought it up. On the other hand, that's why I have anti-virus and ad-aware apps taking up space on my phone........ :dalek:
