Visual voicemail?

For some reason I just realized that our voicemail sucks. We have to wait for numbers to be read and wait for preceding messages to be spoken until we get to the one we want. The iPhone has visual voicemail and so do phones on other carriers. Does anyone know if there is a good visual voicemail app for our V?

If you read the full description, it says it doesn't work with prepaid carriers. And even lists Virgin Mobile as an example.

The recent ratings and reviews of YouMail don't seem to favorable either! Any insight into this subject is appreciated! We shouldn't have to settle for sub-par voicemail.

I never did test it or anything, got too busy with the family. I have never used visual voice mail, so I didn't know what to look for. I was just trying to be helpful.

Yep. I use it too. It's free.

But people do have the call the GVoice # to get the Gvoice voicemail. Unfortunately VM doesn't allow us to forward.

If you opt to stay with VM's voicemail, you can change it so that it doesn't read the # and all that, it's in the settings when you call in.

Darn so you basically have to give people a separate number just for your voicemail?

If you want to use google voice's vm, yes. Some people give that # out and no other, you might consider that. It will ring any phone you like, on any schedule you like.

If you do use it, you might also pick up Groove IP, it's an app that works with GV to make calls on data, not using VM minutes.

Just wanted to second (third?) this. I use Google Voice exclusively. On the very rare occasion I actually need my VM number for something, I end up having to dig through my phone's menus to find it. Works great, I get real time text & voicemail notifications, etc. I have my home phone set up via VOIP & GV too, so everybody I know just calls the one number.

I'd recommend it a TON if you're looking for something visual voicemail-y. The biggest hassle is giving out the new #, and having people send MMS messages to your email address instead of telephone number, since GV doesn't support them at this time.

For some reason I just realized that our voicemail sucks. We have to wait for numbers to be read and wait for preceding messages to be spoken until we get to the one we want.

When they are reading the number and info, press 4 to restart the message. When you restart the message, it skips all of the time and number info. In other words, it skips straight to the message.

To skip the message simply press 9.

If you press the # in VM to change settings, you can tell it to not read the time and #, ever. But i like your idea better because sometimes I do want to know when they called.
