VK Rom - V4.8 XWLPD

As lovely and smooth as ever. Everything seems to be working fine once again.

My only quibble is i dont really like being almost forced into buying the jkay app. I know its not much money and i know the rom works fine without it but having the jkay settings menu and not able to use part of my phone without buying that app is bugging me. It should be my choice to install it, not anyone elses.

Its a small point but very possibly one thats going to make me not keep this rom anymore.

I think untill someone else steps up and challenges for a piece of Jkays, pie then you'll find this the norm for most ROMs from here on.

I personally am happy to pay for the settings. He served me well in the past and once its done its done.
Now if he decided to jump ship tomorrow and this was his swan song then perhaps Id be a little peeved.
 
Well I must say Im impressed by this Rom. And I was quite happy with AndyX V13 but this wipes the floor. Smooth as silk. The only change ive made is reapply Nova launcher. Touch wiz has come leaps and bounds though. Love the font too. Thanks to Jkay.
 
I much preferred VK over AndyX too.

I was dragging my heels for about a week or so, trying to decide Neat or VK, as they are both extremely good ROMs. I eventually ended up on Neat as I prefer the stock look, but I applied VK's animations to it, as I quite like them.
 
If I compare this to Andy X then even VK looks stock with Jkay installed. Which isn't a bad thing. Especially as Ironass mentioned , the font is much bigger and clearer for the vision impaired such as myself. :)

Whats annoying as I almost wish this was CheckRom as this is exactly how I would expect my phone to be with it installed , basing my expectations on previous versions.
But alas I know i'll have to install CR when it drops and now with this, Im almost annoyed.


VK is good people.
 
starting to get a few annoying little stutters and lags now. When neatrom made a version for XWLPF i stayed on XWLPD as people were saying it wasnt as smooth. I can see what they mean now. XWLPD is better and smoother. Think ill go back to that.

now just need to decide whether its vk or neatroms version of XWLPD i go with. Keep changing between the two as i cant decide between them

where are these stutters you are experiencing?
Does the SG3 Live wallpaper crash for everyone else also?
 
One thing Ive learnt is that whilst we all have the same phone , everyones experience is totally different.
Ill give this one more time. It feels more stable and tidy than anything ive tried yet.
 
hi i dl this rom how come everytime i go to jkay settings it wont let me go, it always have the FC problem, and how can i adjust or select the one i like for the status bar icons where should i go? ty
 
Hmm.. I see different. LPF is definitely the smoothest so far.

Also, I think ICS is becoming more and more stable, evident from all the Roms being super smooth now. It's pretty hard to decide which rom to go with, since they are all great and similar.

Notice at the far right the far small red dot. That's the sudden drop from 43% to 11% battery when I restarted the handset.


For those wondering about the massive awake times , i had a snoring recording app on all night. Damn im noisey.
 
I notice your wifi is constant too.
I cant get mine to sleep properly neither. :(
Its not having and adverse affect on battery life for me however, so I'll just have to bend over and take it.

I'm not saying a word guys! ;)

Your drop is probably as a result of all your recent flashing Rudedawg and should settle down as the, "fuel chip", stabilises itself.

I can get my Wi-Fi to sleep but then I get the dreaded wakelocks, "GTALK_ASYNC_CONN_com.google.android.gsf.gtalkservice.AndroidEndpoint", which are, I believe, caused by, "Back up my data", and, "Automatic restore", being checked in Settings > Back up and Reset. A handy little feature but I wish there was such a thing as a Sleep Profile that would disable things automatically at night.

because to use it you have to buy the jkay app from the market. Without it on your phone, going into the settings FCs as the app isnt there to open.

Dont like it being done like that personally.
 
Best battery life Ive personally had in a long time. Well since CRV6 funnily enough ;)

Excellent rom for smoothness and battery! My only gripe is occasional square "black holes" in the browser.

By the way chaps, 5.1 is up and there's an optional zip to get rid of the padlock. :)

Haven't flashed yet as I'm impatiently waiting for the battery to juice up.

Also i always only use the Opera browser.

5.1 also appears a small update. It removes the Jkay framework leaving installing it the users option.

theres a glitch on this version when using the touchwiz launcher, everytime i make a folder on the apps section it always have a FC, i always experinced a FC on this version, i hope they will fix it soon. ty
 
Did a full wipe coming from CheckRom and this ROM gave me nothing but trouble.
Constant Freezes, No reception sometimes and Air plane Mode cannot be disabled once it has been turned on. I will try and install stock ICS rom first as per Ironass and give it another go. Apart from that smooth room lol.

Having the option to use the padlock and/or Jkay framework is a good thing, no?

For those having problems, 3 words: reboot, reboot and reboot!

Also, when you make certain changes like update a number of apps etc. boot into recovery and wipe the cache and dalvik ie. forcing rebuild of all your apps in their current, updated state... without any leftovers from previous versions.

Oh.... and keep rebooting until you get a quick shut down and, upon restart, the "no network" icon changes to signal bars within a few seconds.

This applies to any rom IMHO

Did I mention reboot? :D
 
I've been running this ROM since yesterday afternoon and my phone doesn't seem to like it at all. It keeps freezing and regularly reboots itself if you use it for more than a few minutes. Will give PureLook S3 a go I think.
