vodafone 2.1 update, any news??

well i called vodafone yesterday and got told that they havent got a clue when it is coming, as they only get told when they have got it and not before, so god knows then! did you get yours sent in an update or did you have to connect your fone to pc? and how long have you had it and whats better about it? sorry for all the questions by the way, cheers.
 
I went online on my phone to check for any updates I did it myself even though I had automatically check for updates it said connect to PC update available.
Just to be safe I reloaded the SE stuff on my PC so I knew that was up to date.
Backed up my stuff onto the sd card and followed update on PC.
I really like it. I find it quicker and I prefer the swipe on the bottom rather than the arc.
 
voda have the 2.1 update!!i had to exchange my phone as it stopped charging randomly and the replacement is running 2.1 fyi xxx
 
I am on Vodafone Uk and branded and got my update via my phone getting a message a week ago, so its definitely there.
You just got to keep going into settings and click on software update.
That's all i did.

Still running ole faithful 1.6 here, but the missus' is on Orange and she got the other day so I've had a muck about on hers. Seems good. Loving the refreshed GUI!

Just gotta keep clicking "Software Update" for the foreseeable future then (not sure why we have an "Automatic Search" function!).
 
The sms issues i believe are that u can no longer receive mms messages(pictures).
But there is a fix for it which i will put on a post for anyone on vodafone thats having problems.

i clicked on 'search for software update' on my phone n it said new SE update is available, connect to a computer.... im planning on updating it tomorrow, but whats the best app for backing up my apps n stuff into the sd card?
 
Just copy your contacts to your sd card and make sure you have the latest release of Backup and Restore (it doesn't backup synced contacts and has been quirky on contacts in general).

Use Appbrain app on your phone and on line to save a list of your apps which you can then sync back afterwards.

That's my 2 penneth worth!
 
updated mine just now n its awesome :P
but im having some trouble with 3g (vodafone egypt) and contacts (only some were imported, and a lot are missing), any help?
 
Backup and Restore is quirky to say the least. Couple of things to bear in mind, it only backs up non synced contacts so if you have synced in the past with Google or SE they might be there. Also at the top left there is a three head icon with a plus, open that and have a fiddle with the selections there to see if you can find the rest of them.
 
That's good news for the Vodafone UK then. Glad you have got it and only a week after T-Mobile UK so not as bad as some feared with Vodafone.

i didnt get thru vodafone uk i was still waiting on it i used the SE link that some kind person posted on this site but it work fine.
 
i think the update has arrived now on vodafone. They had problem by sending it through messages.

Plug in ur phone to ur computer, open Companion and install update.

I did this now got 2.1.
