Vodafone S2, what custom radio and what rom?

Hey everyone I have gotten into root and installing custom roms back with my old backflip motorola phone, now I have a Galaxy S2 and I love it so much but a few quirks annoy me and I'd like to install a new rom.

First off I'm an Australian on the Vodafone network and I'm having trouble finding the correct radio I'll need to use for the phone.

Secondly are there any things I should take into account before doing this, or is going to be a pretty straightforward process once I have everything ready to go?

I'd love it if someone could point me towards a good guide (there are so many I know, so I'm not sure what to choose!) and the correct radio for Vodafone Australia.

I don't think the radio/modem has to be specific to australia as I use the same one as a couple of australian members and I'm in the uk.

This contains lots of info about custom roms and kernels and modems.

As long as you follow the instructions to the letter you shouldn't run into any problems while rooting, however there is always a risk.

I'm going to move this thread to the all things root forum as there will be others there to give you advice.
 
Great stuff thanks guys. I tried using a one click method a few weeks ago for my gs2 and it seemed to work (it was not superclick) and I was wary at first because I used the adb method for the backflip.

After a few days though problems started to show - specifically to do with charging issues. Not sure if this was a heat issue and it was in my pocket during a heavy work day, or just that the rooting method and subsequent crap I put on there created the issue.

I'll follow the methods listed here, and hopefully all goes well.
