Voice Dial Really Doesn't seem to work

What is really bad is that this is a google written o/s.. when you do a google search it would be only appropriate to assume that it talked to google... ok they want you to phone dial that way.. they learn who you are dialing.. what is worse is that O/S could be written so that the Voice Dial app would ALSO use the google search thus sending you phone info to google...

ohhhh boy.. and who is supposed to protect your privacy??? the same designer violating it

That makes sense; I think all the reviewers I saw were using the search within google maps. As you agree to let google access your data when you use that, it makes sense that they could access your voice searches within that application.

Well here's my take on it. It seems this is a common problem with all androids. The Voice to text messaging works perfectly. I can say a total paragraph and it will translate to text perfectly, but if I ask the voice dialer to call "mom" I get crazy results like "open task manager?" WTHeck? This is funny because years ago this function worked flawlessly. I believe this is because of two different reasons. 1. Now the VTT is linked to much more than just your phone book. and 2. Somewhere along the line when they changed the format, while transferring all of the info from your old phone to your new phone the names didn't go back in exactly the same way. This is very frustrating and is almost a deal breaker. God I don't want to buy a Iphone! PLEASE FIX THIS ANDROID! (I don't know if Jellybean has a fix yet, I hope so, does anyone know?)

rquest, welcome to the site :). What device do you have that you are asking this question for? Jelly Bean isn't officially available for the Motorola Droid.

I can tell you that yes, Android is totally lacking in the voice dialing area. It was 'sort of' fixed in Froyo, and it _might_ be better in Jelly Bean, but I haven't totally tested it yet. So for now, please answer my question above so we can get started on some firm answers.

Thanks.
