Help Voice echo when calling HTC Desire

Kylie1

Lurker
I'm new to android and to the forums so apologies if I'm being dumb!

I've got a htc desire with android 2.2 on the 3 network (not running task killer)

When making calls I get an echo of my own voice during the call. I'm not using it on loud speaker just the normal phone speaker. It is worse in some cases than others, so far I've noticed it's worst when I'm speaking to someone who is on a landline but this could be purely coincidental.

The only info I can find is about people complaining of this issue when trying to use in car systems or when using the load speaker.

I've had the phone for almost two months and this is pretty much my only problem I've got but it's a pretty annoying one!

Any help would be great

I have the exact same problem, also with an HTC Desire, also with 3 network and also only on incoming calls from certain landlines. I'm trying to narrow it down, but so far only get the echo when people call me from BT landlines. It is so bad I can't speak to people and have to call them back.

I've called the awful 3 technical help and their only advice is to do a full hard reset on my handset. I'm convinced it isn't an issue with the handset, as I've not changed any settings, and don't want to go through this hassel and have to reload all my aps.

So... if enough other people post here with the same issue then it's clearly a problem with the 3 network.

Hi All. I live in Australia and can report that this echo problem is network related. I was with Optus and had this problem .. not all calls though. Changed to Telstra and my problems have disappeared. It looks like it has something to do with network congestion which adds to latency, thus the echo.
