Root Voice input

I thought it could be done with a bluetooth headset? Or is that just theoretical at this point?

I'm not sure if it works or not; as far as I know the current Bluetooth range limits that as a possibility, whether the microphone works or not.

It's theoretical at this point. The audio codecs were removed since it wasn't a phone and now they need to be put back in.

It had the chipset so the devs managed to get it to work (somewhat).

My understanding with transmitting and receiving, one is good for about 1 ft and the other for about 4 ft so range is limited at this point.

It needs work tho. :D

I didn't think it could be done. But I saw this post in this thread where the use said he uses Talk and Voice.

GMail, Talk, Voice, Market, Angry Birds, Stupid Zombies, Pocket Legends, Quadrant, Spare Parts, HD Wallpapers, Flixie, Zedge, Zillow, Words with Friends, Wordfeud, NESoid Lite, N64oid, a bunch more games and utilities that I cant remember right now.

You can pretty much download whatever you want and never run out of space. I got more apps than I can use in a day and still have plenty of room for more.

Guess that's a question for stinky. :D

The last info I saw said it needed work. It's possible what I read was dated, but I know when I've tried to connect a headset it would pair, but not connect.

At work I use a Jabra Link 280 (Jabra Link 280 (280-09) QD to USB Straight Cord with Inline Call Controls and Programmable Soft Keys, Link280) to connect my wireless headset to my PC, which I use for VOIP at work.

One of the other features of the Jabra is that it has bluetooth, so I can use the same headset with my cell phone (or any other bluetooth device).
Today while feeling extra geeky I paired the NC to Jabra. I had to have the NC less than a foot from the Jabra to get sound through the headset, and even then it was 'skippy'. I didn't try any app that might use the mic, the sound was poor enough that it didn't take me long to deem it unusable. It might warrant playing with some more, and one of the devs might cook up something wonderful, but right now I wouldn't go out and buy a headset for it or anything.
Naturally, your mileage may vary.
BTW, this on CM7 nightly 101 and Dalingren's 6/13 kernel.

I paired mine to an automotive OBD2 Bluetooth device and it had good range. Set the nook in passenger seat and it never lost connection while driving. Allowed me to reset a code for a gas cap I didn't have on tight in the week prior to state inspection. I heard the range issues but thought I'd try anyway. it even worked while outside of Jeep good 5 foot or so. It was even easier to setup on Nook than on XP netbook as I didn't have to specify com port settings for the Bluetooth connection.

Well I've tried several times before without success, but tonight, I tried pairing my Plantronics stereo headset again, and finally succeeded. However, as expected, the headset couldn't receive any signal more than a few inches away.

So I left the headset right next to the Nook to keep it linked and tried to fire up the audio recorder app, figuring I could talk into the microphone still with the headset off, I'd just point the boom towards me. But when I pressed record, I received an error of sorts. I forgot what it was exactly (i'll check again) but the gist was that there was no input.

My Ant bluetooth headset connects to my NC (both headset & NC agree they're connected) but I'm unable to hear anything: audio comes out of the NC speaker and NC voice recorder will not begin to record.
All this is while keeping the NC and headset within a foot of each other and both seem still connected.

Running Android 2.3.4 and CM-7-07112011
Anyone still working on this?

Last I heard it didn't sound like much more could be done except swap out drivers to see what driver works best for a certain app. I believe I saw that on XDA in Dalingrin's thread a week or two ago.
