Help Voice mail icon

I'm using Google Voice for my voice mail. A day or so ago the Voice Mail icon appeared on the app tray and won't go away. When I dial the voice mail all I get is my message. Is there anyway to reset/clear this?

Have you tried restarting the phone? Sometimes mine will do that and a simple off/on makes it go away.
