Help Voice recognition question

Greetings, sometimes when I choose voice recognition to send a text message it works beautifully but sometimes takes me to the "Swype Settings" screen and does not translate my speech to words. I speak the message, "working" comes on and then I go to Swype.

Any suggestions appreciated, Leslie (mostly loving my Droid X!)

This will sound preposterous, but when you first click the search button, then press the menu button and make sure that you're settings for search are as desired menu item by menu item.

Second, when the keyboard comes up, you may want to long press the menu button (which toggles the keyboard) and see if that resolves it next time round.

Third, if problems still persists, try changing to another keyboard and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't, then go through the swype details and make sure they are as you want them.

By the way, are you using the Verizon Voice Command or Google Voice Search? The former is miserable and I never use it.

I think you fixed it! Thanks so much.

Using Verizon search - will have to investigate Google Voice. Thanks too for the tip.

Leslie

Voice search is voice recognition software. I wasn't aware at all of a program that reads the messages to you. Perhaps check under Accessibility settings?
