Help voice search adding "+1", cannot complete call

Whenever I hold down the search button and say

"Call ____________"

and it's a business that i do not have in my phone,

it adds "+1" before the area code.

I have a droid incredible, btw. on verizon (obviously, hehe).

However, because it adds this "+1", it cannot dial, and a verizon voice comes on and says something like, "the number you have reached cannot be dialed, etc."

this is a pretty big problem, cuz i have to memorize the number and retype it and then dial it. which is like, the opposite of what i should be doing.
and it's kind of hard to show off the cool Voice Search feature on your phone if you can't dial all the time...

any suggestions?

The +1 is the country code for the US. If you are outside the US and making a call to it you would need the +1, otherwise 001. All countries have their own codes, for example Germany's is 049, or +49. The phone and, network should have no problem if that is the only conflict.

The only problem I could see would be if your voice is not being picked up clearly then the phone would be calling the wrong number.

hmm...i still can't dial, though.

i get this announcement.

i'll say "call mcdonald's"

and it'll dial "+1610xxxxxxx"

and then i hear

"welcome to Verizon wireless.
your call cannot be completed as dialed.
please check the number and dial again.
announcement 4 switch 8-4"

GGRRRR>.... what is it....

is it sense? anybody out there that is running stock sense have this problem?

Please let me know.

I tried uninstalling google voice, and reinstalling it, but it didnt' fix it.

thanks for the help, i am just using vlingo for now. it's a temporary solution, but not the fix of the problem. i just don't understand why it seems like rooted phones don't have a problem w/ this, and unrooted/stock doesnt. makes me want to root ;)
