Help voice to text problems

so the microphone that you press on the keyboard to do the voice to text feature

why does it have to connect to the network to translate what you said into text?

why cant these phones have this built in to them, the only reason I can see is so that google can "improve" things by listening to what you said and what was translated by the computers and see if it matches

this is becoming a huge problem for me, I am constantly in a place where I get service but I cant use this feature all it says is the server is unavailable or something like that and I can press try again or cancel

why cant this be something that doesent need network access to work?

Because its a novelty feature on a phone of which nobody cares about. Most people text first and only talk using that app to impress people. I have seen thousand dollar BMWs not be able to pull up a contact name via voice.

I strongly disagree. I use that app constantly during the day and it saves me enormous amounts of time. Failure to function limits productivity.

If there is a reason that it can't be done I'd like to hear it. If not, I would like to see it made to have functionality away from a service area.

What's a "thousand dollar BMW"?

LOL, yea a thousand dollar BMW must suck, thats why it dont work

but I use this all the time and its like 95-98% accurate all the time, and mostly it will get everything correct except for names of businesses that I am texting

it might be a "novelty" feature to some but its something that me and others really use all the time - the trick is to pronounce your words correctly and sometimes emphasis on strange parts of words to get it correct, but once you learn that its great

my problem is I start talking and I get that stupid noise that says server error and I can press try again or cancel - mostly it works the second time but I dont understand why it cant be built into the phone

also turn off the safe options and you can enter bad 4 letter words by speaking them, he he he

I want this app on my computer as well, I want to be able to talk into the mic and have it type things out where I have the text input box, anyone know how to do that on windows 7?

has anyone found a solution to this - can I have this functionality built into the phone somehow and not need network access

I want to be able to use this in airplane mode if needed

I dont want to here how no one uses this feature because I use it all the time - all you got to do is talk a certain way and it works correct almost every time - I use it all the time when I am driving so I dont have to take my eyes off the road
