Voicemail Notification Fix

All you have to do is go into Menu - Settings - Applications - All - Voicemail app - Clear Data.

I'm a genius. Had this happen once prior to Froyo. Correct me if I'm wrong mods, but this isn't a bug if this only happens once. I posted this solution before and now the thread newbies started is gone. Must have worked because I don't see anymore complaints.

WOOHOO I get the first complaint!!!! Thanks for the suggestion, but we have all tried that and it still returns.. but thanks for the try though. I give you an "A" for effort : ) I fixed mine... the only way I fixed mine was doing a hard reset on my phone.

Bu thanks for the suggestion!;)

That fix will not fix it. Good try but you can just go to settings then call then clear voicemail notification.
That will make it disappear for the time being.

It does fix it. Posted this when gingerbread was released. People want the notification cleared off their notification bar.

For some reason it happens to me after my Titanium Backup does it's scheduled backup during the middle of the night. Also TB makes my GPS go out during the backup.

Did anyone have the notification sound go off too? Every now and again i would hear it go off, look at my phone and nothing be there but the 'vm notification' (gosh that was sooo irritating). Anyhow yeah so I am also NOT getting text messages people are sending me.

The method listed by the OP above worked for a longer period of time than clearing the notification from the call menu but it did not go away for good. Instead of it appearing every few hours when clearing it through the call menu, it would stay away for about a day.

Since the update that was sent out on the 20th, the voicemail indicator issue has been resolved.

my issue is that i am getting my notification through a text....its completely skiping the voicemail app...then when i go to the app, it says i do not have any vm.....any suggestions?

I had the same problem and posted in trouble shooting section, and another poster was able to help me. There seems to be a problem between HANDSCENT and the evo/sprint/android Voice mail. His idea was to remove handscent, and it worked for him. I tried it and id worked for me too. May help you

+1 Flat....disabling the default messaging app is the simple fix.

9016 texts and visual voicemail VVM notifications- FIX! I finally found it. Here is a link provided by another member that needs another thread. It's that importnant to get out to others, as a factory reset is NOT the answer (at lease for me). I tried all the rest and the problem for me was in my GoSMS or Handcent text messaging app.

Hope this helps! I'm happy and back to normal now!
