Help voicemail notification fix?

I am not receiving voicemail notification on my note 3 with verizon. When I pull up voicemail in application manager, it will not let me check the show notifications box. I tried disabling hangouts and restarting the phone. No change.

I have the same issue with Rogers up here in the Toronto area, and I think it is the cell providers that are to blame for this. I think certain VM programs may offer the notification, but most if not all do not I also think..don't think there is a fix for this on our user end?

I have had mine for about two months. My wife got the same phone two days ago and she gets notifications and I dont. Very confused on this one.

I use an app called visual voicemail, works great..

Normally when there is an issue with voice mail you need to call your carrier for them to reset it.
