Help Voicemail notification sound

so in my messaging settings i have chosen a sound for my voicemail notification but i still get the "default" notification sound when i receive a voicemail. i use a different sound for my default notification so i hear when i receive emails. so the voicemail notification sound setting just doesn't work??
