I don't think it should be an issue for HTC/Orange to have the phone if the sticker is slightly split, as long as it is still there and hasn't been tampered with at all. I thought you'd said it was a friends phone - I really wouldn't mess any further and ask them to speak to HTC/Orange... end of the day, it is their contract with Orange/HTC, not your's!

The stickers under the battery and SIM card covers? They're water damage indicators, I've a feeling that any sign they've been tampered with though might cause you problems.
