For true volume boost, you need to be rooted with superuser permission. That's why I only recommended a rooted app. Any noon root option you choose will just be an equalizer that will change the sound but not actual volume

I got this downloaded. Didn't realize it's a zip. Does it need to be installed through recovery?
Wrong, for true volume boost you need an amp. The highest volume you can artificially achieve without distortion is 0db.
Most likely, don't forget to back up your current system.

I've NEVER used a non rooted app that did what DSP manager or viper FX did for any phone I've used and I've tried many. If the technology exists then or now then wrong I am, but I've never had one work

I installed viper, but haven't really noticed an improvement. Actually, it almost seems quieter. How do you have it configured?

I have decent headphones, they are skull candy brand but the music sounds great on my headphones but im not a huge fan of the speaker and what looks to be a fake one, even with viper going it still sounds a little distorted. Ill take the good with the bad. So also just to ask what do we need to do to get cwm working if we now have a build that works? Im down to help or test
i am completely disgusted with this phone when listening to music in my truck it lacks bass and overall output volume to my system... BT and 3.5mm.... and headphones cant even go loud enough to drown out a lawn mower... this was my replacement to a 3rd gen ipod touch 32gb and its failing when it comes to audio playback

Try playing with the setting in Viper, I've got plenty of bass via BT on my car's alpine system

What headphones are you using? I have a pair of skull candy earbuds and they drown out everything at half volume. Maybe the problem is your speakers, not the device.
my cars system sounds better using viper but I still have to turn up the volume way more than using any other source the type of headphones are not in question since I am using my ipod touch as a reference this phone lacks in every aspect over the touch and its more of a disappointment since apple uses the worst DAC that their money can buy... at work my touch at 3/4 volume would start bothering me but with the volt 100% and It gets drowned out by every sound that the shop makes.... i had to buy a headphone amp just so I can listen to the mlb at bat app while standing at the wet saw.... at least the bass out of my 2 12" subs came back using viper
