Help VPN connection.

I'm wondering has anyone successfully connect to a VPN network (either PPTP or L2TP) through their Metro Indulge? I'm wondering if its just me. I had to download an app to reveal the VPN screen, but no matter stock or custom rom I am unable to connect. There is an OpenVPN app on the market, but it needs a custom kernel. This is a great phone, but this is last bit missing for me.

I'm willing to buy an app if I know beforehand it works with this phone.

There's a VPN enabler shortcut on the phone. I can't recall it atm, but you should be able to find it in my hidden goodies of the galaxy indulge list. I'll try posting a link for you soon.
as far as testing it, I'm afraid you're on your own.
