Help VPN - Newbie

I'm trying to set up VPN on my phone for the first time. However, it gives out "server hung up" error, claiming possible problems with the firewall.

So far, these are the test cases I tried it on:
From a desktop out of the network, I can connect just fine.
I can connect through wi-fi on the local network.
I cannot connect through 3g. Didn't find a good reception for 4g yet.
When using internet pass-through from a desktop out of the network, I cannot connect.

Everything is done through pptp. What stump me is that I could connect from a desktop. Therefore, I'm assuming my firewall settings must be correct. Are there special settings that I must make when connecting through my EVO 3D.

Could have something to do with the port settings through the Sprint proxy. Try the proxy fix and try it again

Right now, I'm just trying to get the VPN setting under Wireless & networks to work.

I think I did all the required port forwarding correctly since I could use vpn with a desktop.

I'm not really sure what you mean. I set up a port for my phone to connect through on my router. I'm using remote Remote VNC app on my phone. The settings in Remote VNC should mimic your settings for your port forwarding.

You could always try out PocketCloud. You don't have to use port forwarding for that.

Thanks. Those are really nice apps. Remote Desktop may be something I consider if I can't VPN working.

Tried a few more test cases with my VPN. It works when using other WIFI network and 4g. However, it doesn't work over 3g.
