On June 22nd, after having my phone for about 6 months, I got prompted to load the latest update for my Galaxy S (Verizon Fascinate) phone. After the update I found that I cannot use the Windows VPN client on my netbook or use the VPN client on my iPad to access a VPN server via the HotSpot on the phone. I've spent hours looking around for a solution and have done a lot of testing.
I have never done this, but I did test VPN on the phone itself and it will connect to the VPN server using PPTP. I was even able to download a ping utility on the phone and was able to ping a device on the other side of the firewall from the phone.
But, for some reason, I can make a WiFi connection to the hotspot on the phone but not a VPN tunnel from the netbook and the iPad. Being able to VPN to work is very important and just about the only reason I have a hotspot. Now.. I am able to surf the Internet from my iPad or the netbook, just not VPN.
Has anybody else had this problem since upgrading to version firmware version 2.2.1? I'm not sure if I had an older version, but there was some kind of upgrade loaded on the phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
