Here is my one question.

Im considering doing (unspeakable) things to my dInc in order to make it have 2.2. I really need a few of the fixes it offers such as random reboots, crazy screen scrolling, charge fix, etc.

Im considering this because of the lack of communication from VZW. I feel they can very easily tell us what date range they have in mind, rather than having us all on here guessing with each other.

I digress.

My question to you is this. Assuming you know someone, who knows someone, who heard something about 2.2 rolling out, and you are confident in that source. And assuming i asked THEM when 2.2 was coming OTA.

What would THEY answer me?

a. next few days most likely
b. next few weeks most likely
c. its really not ready, it can be a few months
d. honestly, i have no info on 2.2

if (c) or (d) are the answer, i think its time for me to do those (unspeakable) things :)

But if its (a) or (b) i can probably hold off.

So .... theres my one and only question :)

This is a very long, thought out question. My answer is going to be bitter sweet.
D. honestly, i have no info on 2.2

Furthermore, Verizon doesnt make software updates, the manufacturer of the OS does. In this case google and or HTC. However, Verizon is very stingy, as well as the FCC or whoever controls that kind of stuff. So what I can say is, that we dont like to release software until its been tested quite a bit. I know how stupid that sounds considering the LVEnvTouch and Env3 are on software versions 10003430932489, but its the reality of what they tell us.

In closing, I could care less what you do to your phone. In my opinion, you bought it, its yours, you own it. You pay your insurance and you pay for your warranty, so what happenes to the phone is what happenes. Nowhere in my job description does it say, check for 3rd party software before replacing! However, we do full resets to wipe any 3rd party programs that may be installed. But again, im not a technician, so my job description wouldnt even say that regardless!

I have s-off right now with rooted.

say something happens like a blown speaker, and I call Custer service, and they send me a refurb.

I get the refurb, and send back the rooted s-off phone, without un-rooting it. will they bill me for the phone, or will I be allright. I've heard of people getting billed for this, but I sent back an Eris a few months back that I forgot to un-root and never heard anything about it.

I think my speaker is blown too, but I am out of the 30days, will they replace it?
 
IMO we probably wont without flashing, heh, we barely got Froyo, and Gingerbread will supposebly be a new UI revamp so Sense has to change too I guess.

Go sit in the corner. We are probably going to get it the SAME TIME AS EVERY BODY ELSE. Fine, htc released the source code. Getting it before 4th of 20 devices IS NOT BARELY GETTING IT. Fine, if it drags on another month, you might have a slight point. But remember that the MyTouch 3g is getting 2.2, which came out a year after the device dropped. Mark my words, we will get gingerbread.

I know what you mean, everyone I know with a Droid has finally received 2.2 as of last night & the rest that I know have 2.2 on their Moto X, Droid 2, or EVO . . . now I'm the only one with the cool looking phone that has an outdated OS, bugs, delayed patch releases, crappy@$$ battery life, quite its share of limitations, etc, etc. . . and no word on a legit release date for 2.2

How real is the 4G/LTE system for being released by the end of the year or the beginning of next year (2011)... in your opinion. With all the hoop and hollering updates and features for the 3G Incredible, i'm standing fast with my Incredible waiting to upgrade my phone to a 4G phone.

I'm due for a upgrade on one of 4 phones i have in my name at the start of 2011, and i know once Verizon 4G comes out most of the 3G phones will become obsolete, or at least put on the back burner.

So where does 4G stand right now, publicly we heard it will be available at the end of this year... what say you officially, or if you can't officially comment on it, what's your opinion... Thanks.
 
Okay this VZW Employee is kind of sketchy.

I know for a fact that in the mid-atlantic region the 2.2 (Froyo) has been released to VZW employees for testing on the DI. How is it this guy has no idea about it?

you're only the 10th person to use "i know for a fact" when talking about froyo and the incredible
 
Since the soft update, when I try to send a text picture message I receive message .not sent generic network failure. Anybody have this problem ? Verizon wireless

how can you fix it ?
