I called Verizon yesterday after experiencing the one-way audio/audio reboot issue again, and vented. I said, I need to know two things:

1. Is the update going to fix the issue?
2. Is the update scheduled for April?

If the answer to any of those questions is "no", then you will be putting me into another premium device, such as the HTC Rezound or the Motorola RAZR Maxx. The first person I got was customer service, and she said that isn't information she is privvy to; perhaps I'd like to call Tech Support? She gave me the number 1-866-221-4086. I called it, and it was a fax machine. *sigh*

I called the CS number (1-800-922-0204) back again - that's the number I've been calling all along - and explained to the person what happened. He said, not sure why she gave you that number, the proper number to go directly to tech support is 1-866-406-5154... would you like me to transfer you now? I said absolutely.

Explained my plight to the tech support rep, again. She was very nice and polite, but she gave me the whole, "I don't see any details of any 'fix' or 'patch' in the information I have access to." She offered to call Samsung and I politely declined. I told her the last time I called, the person did just that and Samsung was absolutely worthless. If I had a bag of used hammers in my hand, it would have been worth more than Samsung's tech support. I then asked her if there was anyone we could escalate this to? She said sure, let me find someone.

Someone else came on the line, and he was either a Level II or Level III tech support. Don't remember which. He said that yes, there is an update currently being tested by Verizon. While he was also nice and polite, I had to ask him three times, "Does this update contain the fix for the audio reboot/one-way audio issue?" I consider that a direct question, which in turn deserves a direct answer. He kept rambling on about testing things, many bug fixes, etc. After asking the third time, he said yes, that 'patch' is included in the update. My next question was, when will it be released? I'm not holding you to a specific date, but if you can give me a ballpark that would help. He said something about the middle or end of April. I've been around long enough to know that tanslated from Verizonese, that means, "Sir, we have no earthly idea when it will be released. Be thankful if it happens in 2012. K?"

I then repeated my ultimatum: If this doesn't fix the issue and if if doesn't happen in April, you will be putting me into a new premium device. He said yes, we will absolutely do that. Verizon has exactly two weeks. I can't have a phone that doesn't reliably function as a phone. What if I have an emergency and the audio cuts out?

As I mentioned in another thread, don't mind me...I'm just venting. I really don't like paying a premium price for a premium product only for it to not function properly. I'm not talking about trivial things like the ;&apos apostrophe (sp?) issue. I'm talking about a basic, important function like making phone calls. In my mind, this is no different than buying a car and one of the wheels just randomly falls off. I keep putting it back on, but it keeps falling off. Sometimes at highway speeds, sometimes as I'm backing out of my driveway, sometimes not at all. No one would put up with that. Sure, the dealership can put me into another model car, but I bought my current car for a reason (it's the one I wanted).

Grrrrrr.....

So, as I posted earlier, there was a guy on the AndroidCentral forums claiming to be a VZW employee and said that the update was delayed until May.

I wasn't sure if I believed him but then he posted this screenshot:

The flash glare makes it hard to read, but you can definitely see that the update is coming in May and that the device is listed on the top left as the Galaxy Nexus.

Quite disappointing.

FWIW, I've been forwarded an email from him (the name in the posted image, ie Samir) regarding the update back in march from a local (MPLS) verizon employee that was trying to find out what is up about the update. Back then he claimed it was slipping due to last second bugs found during testing.

**edit** Never mind... you have to be a member of AndroidCentral to view the screenshot.

If it's delayed because of last-second bugs that were found, I'm okay with that as I'd rather have the update error-free than it cause more problems. It's a delicate balance between that and not being able to make a reliable phone call. Happened again today while talking with my sister.

Which is the best android tablet including the new 10" that Samsung is supposed to release soon?

Transformer Prime is the best tablet right now imo. There's going to be a google tablet that emphasizes value, and the other android manufacturers should be coming out with new ones that utilize the s4 and tegra 3 eventually (hopefully soon). Unfortunately no dates have been confirmed.
