Root [VZW] How do you root this thing?

Hopefully the bootloader is unlockable. If I can't flash an AOSP ROM on here, then I'm not buying one

I've been scoping out the other HTC One subforums and they seem real easy to unlock.
There doesn't seem to as much developer support for this as the S4 though. Strange, as it's the third best selling phone right now. Maybe it's too early in the game, the phone's only been out two months.

Well, I'm fairly certain i remember reading Verizon doesn't allow you to unlock via HTC dev (classic Verizon )

However, I could be wrong as I don't have this device. Hopefully someone else can jump in and confirm.

Well, AT&T had some issues with HTC dev unlocks as well... could be that it would work on a Verizon variant like it did with AT&T.

I guess what bothers me is why they play this cat and mouse game.
Carriers always lose at it... why bother.

Oh.. and I noticed this is my 1,000th post.
Do I get a cookie? :)

No the first 1,000 you have to buy us a cookie! I prefer sugar or chocolate chip. :p

combination of high cost and keeping devices off the official unlock list is why ive recently moved away from verizon.

id be surprised if vzw allowed the one to be officially unlocked,so any s off method will need some sort of temp root.

in addition, vzws complicated LTE radio setup makes AOSP roms much more challenging.

on the other hand,im quite happy with my s off t mobile one :D

Yeah If I didn't need VZW for work reasons, I'd probably switch to T-mobile :/

Speaking of rooting, has anyone been able to install SuperUser with the STOCK rom? I am having the damnedest time accomplishing this simple task. Does it have to be installed from a SD card? I would think installing from your computer would be the same thing.

for a long time i had a $30 "monthly 4g" prepaid t mobile line. i used my vzw phone at work, and used the t mobile phone everywhere else i went. i used it to test/play with a number of different gsm devices. always an option :D

yes,you can install superuser on a stock rom. it is simply flashed from recovery. you can use this thread: http://androidforums.com/international-one-all-things-root/720478-htc-one-root-thread.html (assuming were refering to the t mobile or dev edition versions :) )
