VZW IMEI changes?

I currently have a VZW Note 2. It took a tumble the other day and now has a cracked screen. So I'm going to purchase one of Craigslist. With 4G devices do I have to call VZW and have them change my IMEI when i get the new phone or can I just put my SIM card in and go since its the same phone, same SIM card?

I am pretty sure that for Verizon and Sprint you have to call them to change it. For AT&T and T-Mobile, you could just swap out the SIM card. And for Verizon, you have to make sure it is a Verizon phone that you are buying and it is clean (not reported lost or stolen).

UPDATE: Looks like I was wrong. You could swap SIM cards on Verizon 4G phones with SIM. Good luck!

If the device you're replacing the original with takes the same sim card, simply popping your sim in the new one should be all you need to do because the sim contains all the require information.
